The other evening I was watching a repeat of the 2012 dramatisation of the Kenny Everett story, "The Best Possible Taste", and while it was generally enjoyable, one thing really irritated me. 'Kenny' is in the studio in 1970 talking about the Musician's Union rulings on needletime, and passing over the NDO's rendition of "In The Year 2525", he decides to play the Zager and Evans single version. Hardly a rare 45, so why wasn't the actor given a real copy of the single to use in the scene, instead of the anonymous silver injection-moulded plastic label 7 inch? Come on... (I know, I need to get a life, but really... it makes me wonder about other stuff in the programme.)

Oh, I always dislike when they do that: put a tamla motown single on and Otis Redding plays, or some such.
Conversely, I have a bunch of singles that are on the 'wrong' label, legitimately. Hey Jude on Parlophone, Sly stone 'Dance to the music' on Columbia, Love on London. They look wrong, they aren't.

For what it's worth, (not much), I've a copy on the Conquest LP by Uriah Heep on Bronze but the central label on one side of the album is for Motörhead Bomber. Shame it's not something rare and sort after as opposed to rare, ignored and worthless. Story of my life! LOL.

One book I have which lists rare records mentions mislabelled records where the author is aware of them, but I imagine they are very niche for collectors.

I was collecting a bunch of "blank" record labels, for making cdr comps. Normal label but no track and artist detail, not completely blank). I have been collecting the "Black Magic" 70s label, and by chance one of them has no track detail on the b-side, so that's handy.

Good taste Mark some great songs on the Black Magic label and i like the look of the label to, it does look collectable i've got some records on Black Magic myself but only a handful.
