I cannot find any mention of an early 1960's STV music show called "One Night Stand" it was a precursor of "Dig This"
I've looked on (Lost Shows" and "IMDB") does anybody know if it's missing?
meanwhile here's Tommy Truesdale and the Sundowners from (show 3) on Wednesday 12/03/64...

Thanks Simon,
I agree with you that it's more than likely this is from a totally missing series?
I should have thought of following it up by sending an e-mail to STV myself, so thanks for doing that. Hopefully STV will give you/us an answer pretty quickly.
By the way, I started a "Dig This" thread previously so hopefully STV can provide us with some updates about that show?
cheers William

The picture of the group was taken on the show as you can make out the large letters N and D

I found this information about an Edinburgh group that appeared on "One Night Stand" in 1964...credit and thanks to Rathbone's Ramblin' "The other regular band at The Gonk in Riego Street Edinburgh was Phil and The Flintstones. Their speciality was to take classical tunes, speed them up, and add a rock beat, which was a concept a few years ahead of its time. Most of their set, though, consisted of covers of Little Richard, Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones. They were famous as the first of the Edinburgh bands to appear on television, six minutes on the STV programme ‘One Night Stand’ when they played Little Children and Sweet Little Rock’n’Roller. They also made a short film as an advert for the Milk Marketing Board. Despite the television appearance, they didn’t get a record deal and split up at the end of 1964." Have a close look at these pictures in this first picture you can make out a large letter S to the right of 15 yr old singer Phil Clark, then a bit further down in the second picture, you get a close up of the band and above them you can just make out what appears to be 3 large letters spelling out O N E

When I asked STV about whether they could say how many episodes there were to each of these 2 series..they said " Unfortunately we do not have the paper records for these particular Titles"

Hi Simon,
It's a shame nothing survives, another series bites the dust!
At least STV replied to your e-mail even if it amounted to nothing.
How they can't even have any record at all beats me!
(anyway) at least I was able to find out the information you were looking for!
I also found out information about DIG THIS (it had 19 episodes between 03/07/64 and 06/11/64)
I will post the details to-morrow on that thread, highlights for me are appearances by The Alex Harvey Soul Band on the 25/09/64...The Pretty Things on the 16/10/64...and The Kinks on the 22/10/64 which is mentioned in Doug Hinman's book (All Day and All of the Night)

It's thanks to you that I first became aware of Tommy Truesdale and the Sundowners. I hope they all get an opportunity to view your thread, which has enabled me and many other people to hear of the group for the first time earlier this year. It would be great to hear from Tommy on the forum or information from you on the forum via Tommy on the show. He might not be aware that anything exists, but he will be pleasantly surprised when he sees your thread and the Youtube clip within it.

Tommy will be thrilled that at least some of his television footage exists. Irvine Beat FM also has a live broadcast option, so anyone out of area has the option to listen to Tommy and other presenters : irvinebeatfm.net/
