I'm sure this must have been mentioned countless times before, but which TOTP edition does the classic and oft-repeated clip of "Starman" actually come from? The reason I ask is that on BBC4's "Acoustic At The BBC" compilation programme, it has Jimmy Savile introducing it with the words "Starman.. David Bowie.. right now", an intro that I don't remember seeing before.

The Jimmy Savile intro comes from the 'Ten Years Of Pop' special tx 27th December 1973. On the source clip (Bob Pratt?) there's a glimpse of Tony Blackburn either end.

I assume that's one special that's not being repeated any time..

I assume that's one special that's not being repeated any time.. Nope. A smeary poor quality version is available on the Collectors Circuit, I'm reliable informed. Mickey Dolenz is featured and is in quite a good mood. This was during his Hollywood Vampires period; further comment will not be made....

Going slightly o/t but still relevant.. a mate of mine pointed me in the direction of a promo film for Ronno's "4th Hour Of My Sleep" which has turned up recently. Great stuff, and nice to see a pre-peroxide Mick R..

For completeness, the Ronno clip came from Hits A Gogo 03/03/1971, shown on Einsfestival on the 9th of May.
