There was a mention on a Facebook page dedicated to Classic British comedy where someone commented that they would love to see the 1959 comedy series "SOMETHING IN THE CITY" again, I thought there wouldn't be much chance of that, but I was surprised when It seems it all exists www.lostshows.com/default.aspx?search=something+in+the+cityeven more surprising is that its an Associated Rediffusion programme from 1959. I checked the BFI search which showed nothing, then ITN Source, again nothing, so the question is if it does exist, where does it reside and can anyone elaborate on the plot as there is very little on the net about it. I found these brief piece www.phill.co.uk/comedy/city/index.htmlIMDB : www.imdb.com/title/tt0217961/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

All these programmes are held in the BFI National Archive as part of the Jack Hylton Collection. Full details can also be found in my book Jack Hylton Presents (1995).

I'd really like to see the filmed series "Love & Kisses" which featured most of the cast from my favourite Arthur Askey film "The Love Match" (1954). I think it was their Blackpool stage show that Jack Hylton had filmed for a 5x30 mins TV series. The stars were Arthur Askey, Glenn Melvyn, Danny Ross, Anthea Askey, Lally Bowers. Broadcast on Associated-Rediffusion (ITV) from 4th November-2nd December 1955. 3 of the 5 episodes still exist: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_and_Kisses_(TV_series)"Bill Brown (Arthur Askey) and his wife Sal (Lally Bowers) run a pub frequented by a range of odd characters. Bill does his best to avoid doing any work, while his wife does her best to keep things going" I'd love Network to release this, and other forgotten surviving gems from the Hylton archive, onto DVD so that I can see them. Or even ITV to raid their own archive and show this stuff on one of their channels.

Love and Kisses exists as the whole play in the BFI National Archive, which is the version which was shown on ABC in 1956. It's a very good example of how Askey performed in front of a live audience (though this one was invited, not paying.)
I don't think you should rely on Wiki for any info on the Hylton collection as it's not necessarily correct, and what is there is generally lifted from my book. It doesn't exist as a "series" at all because the episodes were topped and tailed by Askey and as those were "live" they don't exist.
While many of the Hylton programmes have been screened at BFI Southbank over the years, Love and Kisses and Something in the City have not been shown, and there are no immediate plans to do so.
