Hi
Whilst reading about The Avengers, I was curious to see that some mute film trims were knocking around, however I can't find them on the Kaleidoscope website. Could anybody point me to where they are? (If they are still online?)
Thanks Kyle

Not a stupid question, Kyle, but it would appear that nobody here knows the answer!

Could anybody point me to where they are? (If they are still online?) Thanks Kyle I have seen some of these at a past tv event screening but they aren't all that special. Just a few seconds extra either side of a sequence that was used in the official edit. Colour Riggs (I think Escape In Time is one of them). I doubt if they have appeared openly anywhere online. I think Kaleidoscope hold these?

Bit o/t but I noticed on some of the latest colour repeats, when the series goes into colour most of the earlier ones have the sub heading double barreled joke titles. When they get to 'return of the cybernauts' they disappear.I know the sub headings were lost for many years then reinstated for the BBC2 1990s repeats. Just wondered if this was a case of the sub heading idea being dropped or that some are still missing. The tone of the quoted episode reverts from black comedy to drama after some over the top early eps more like most of the B+W Mrs Peel eps.
Also while on the topic of latest repeats. Did anyone see the recent repeat of WHOS WHO? This is a good episode I didn't recall from original showings the one featuring Freddie Jones as Steed. The film looked like it had been transferred to another medium and during movement of any character seemed to momentarily freeze creating jerky motion.None of the others so far have suffered from this defect and wonder if anyone knows what may have caused this. I also noticed that the episode that followed 'return of the cybernauts' (may have been the former); had the wrong credits, it repeated the cast of return of the cybernauts for some reason. Could this mean the end credits for the episode in question have gone missing?

Hi
Others here, far more knowledgable than I (!) will be able to assist, but I believe the subtitles (Steed does this, Emma does that) were dropped possibly because of the U.S. network influence. Also missing from this point on are the We're Needed bits at the beginning.

Was watching 'the forget me knot on true entertainment & I noticed in the last credit was steed & Tara looking from a distance away from the Orange screens. I saw that when channel 4 repeated it in 1983,but in the bravo/Granada plus screenings in the 90s it ended with them walking away from the screens with steed swinging his umbrella. This is getting way out of my head here was the 'swinging umbrella' closed Tara king's first 7 episodes? I have a feeling when true starts linda thorson's run tonight we may or may not get 'the shooting gallery' sequence if they're showing the original US versions.

Yes, the subtitles were dropped at American insistence for the final 6 colour Rigg episodes IIRC.

Not on subject of anything missing; but I noticed there seems to be a different style for most of 'Invasion of the Earthmen'. Recall Dave Rodgers I think writing about Brian Clemens resigning at that time and a replacement producer coming in for a short period.
Does anyone know any more precise details on that as I'm curious?

Recall Dave Rodgers I think writing about Brian Clemens resigning at that time and a replacement producer coming in for a short period. Does anyone know any more precise details on that as I'm curious? I think John Bryce came back as producer for three episodes. It didn't seem to work well and Clemens/Fennell came back as producers. I think they remodeled two existing eps, and brought Diana Rigg back for one episode to write her out and write Tara in. The Forget Me Knot was shown first though, with Have Guns Will Haggle and Homicide and Old Lace being the result of much reworking. I don't know whether Invasion of the Earthmen was similarly reedited. The original two episodes were Invitation to a Killing and The Great Great British Crime respectively. As said, others here will know way more than me!

IIRC some episodes needed some reshooting, Roger Delgado was in one of these, according to a DWM feature many years ago.

anyone know why 'the avengers' episode 'my wildest dream' was broadcast on all ITV regions over easter 1969 after the news at ten? was it because of it's content? saw it recently on true entertainment & was certified 'PG'.
