Would be interested to hear what people think of this? The Stars performances were recorded as far as I understand but the tapes were lost. I tried to follow the link for more information about the recording but the link wouldn't work. Still, it's interesting non the less. youtu.be/H9Yl7Izd6fo

I'd say it's fake.

Me too, though I didn't want to be first to say it. But I've given it some thought since I first played it late last night. The effects on the guitars sound too digital for me, for it to be anything like around 40 years old. It's also too clinical sounding (again, digital - very likely) and I record music at home myself... I could do something similar, quite easily. I've just given it a second listen and about 3/4 of the way through, it does remind me a little of the long freak-out bit in Interstellar Overdrive (from their first album Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.) So I could see why someone either made a connection or 'composed' it, to sound how it does. I've seen/heard many faked tracks on You Tube over the years, usually Jimi Hendrix guest jam sessions... as I'm a fan of his music, that's probably understandable. And some here may be aware of The Beatles' legendary unreleased (heard in recent years by likely nobody) Carnival Of Light sound montage; that often 'appears' here and there could be dozens of fakes on there at any time.

Digital fake with digital phasing effect. They didn't even have the gumption to apply a bit of old school analogue phasing (although why would you put phasing on a rehearsal anyway?) I've been hearing Syd Barrett fakes since the early eighties and this is one of the more laughable ones

...why would you put phasing on a rehearsal anyway? That is a VERY good point.

Whatever it is, it's appalling. Very true, LOL, but IIRC the genuine item was supposed to be dreadful too . So it a resounding cry of "fake" and a bad one at that.
