Yes Simon ITV Sport hold a copy of the 12/04/1970 Big Match in their library. Not sure about the Saturday edition but the Sunday show featured highlights of the FA Cup Final (Chelsea 2 Leeds 2) in colour and the goals only from the Scottish final (Aberdeen 3 Celtic 1) in black and white. Montford did not appear and the commentary was from Cameron. From memory I think the BFI database mistakingly credits Montford as the Hampden commentator.

Yes there are a few examples mainly at the end of highlights when the programmes were presented from the grounds like the link at the top of this page. Occasionally in the 1970s Scotsport went out under the title of Match Report in this format with no studio footage. There are similar links with another long standing Scotsport presenter Alex Cameron in existence. I have also seen some unbroadcast outtakes of the live coverage of the 1982 Scottish Cup Final when Arthur is discussing how to introduce a newsflash from the Falklands War during the commercial break. Everyone who worked with him says he was always in control and never panicked and the footage certainly backs this up! thank you to William for starting this thread and to Ronnie who has provided some remarkable insights into Arthur Montford, a man of some measure, I am wondering if anything is actually Missing in terms of television programmes Arthur appeared on, even the 2 episodes of The Match aka The Big Match 11/4/70 and 12/4/70 made by LWT which also features Brian Moore, Jimmy Hill, Alex Cameron and Arthur exist/are held at the bfi.. Thank you Simon! and as you say thanks to Ronnie as well for his mine of information! I'm having a break from going to the National Library in Edinburgh until the New Year but for the whole of last year I was doing football research about the team I support Hibernian (Hibs) and so far I've managed to get match report info on all their games from the Turnbull's Tornadoes season of 1972/3 also match reports on all their European games home and away from being the 1st ever British team to play in the European Cup in 1955 up to a game against Hamburg in 1969. Next Year I'll move into the 1970's 80's 90's and more up to date. Question for you Ronnie, what are the stages in bringing a book out? cheers William

Yes Simon STV have an copy of `The Anniversary Programme' (TX 31/08/1962) and you can view the Scotsport indent here www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOXBHS0zc6II can't be sure if they have always held it as STVs opening night extravaganza `This is Scotland' was thought lost until the BFI turned up a copy which STV were able to duplicate just a few years back. Incidentally Scotsport started off as a regular Wednesday evening show on 18/09/1957 and the same team began a Saturday results round up bulettin from October 12th the same year entitled `Sports Desk.'

Thanks for the link to your Football book Ronnie;unfortunately I prefer traditional books, ergo I don't have a Kindle.
Hopefully though as you say, a book version will come out in the future?
I liked the reference in your book to Arsenal vs Hibs in the 1950's and people huddling around TV sets to watch! great stuff.

Only available as a download at present but it may go to print depending on sales. I am hoping the publication of my hardback biography on Ally MacLeod last June will have generated a few more sales. thank you very much Ronnie, that was fab to see that Scotsport indent from Scottish Television 5th Anniversary Programme, as Arthur says' the incomparable Matthe', what a character/ personality he was, and that Real Madrid side with so many greats on show. Cheers about Sports Desk 1957 too. Good luck with both your publications.

I remembered seeing it on a website that Arthur Montford on Saturday tea times in the STV region in its first 30 years used to pop up in the announcers' studio reading out the scottish results after world of sport & the news then introducing the first Saturday night show (I.e. Metal mickey, blockbusters, knight rider etc.) in my region grampian used to put the football & shinty results during prime time to proceed 3-2-1 or 'the price is right'.
