There seems to be an email that is circulating around fandom about the "true" story regarding that amazing recovery last year.
Please please please can someone tell me that this thing belongs in the fiction section?
These type of rumours are giving us Doctor Who fans a bad name!
I'm not usually one to give into these rumours but I have to admit this has rattled me quite a bit.

Sounds like a bunch of total bollocks to me.

The email is thought to be false James.
If nothing is announced by the launch of the BBC online store next year I would say the game is up if it isn't up already.

With the launch of the new service in march, i would feel this is the time to reveal any more finds. If nothing by then we should all resume normal life ! But i somehow think this one is around for a long time to come !

The BBC cannot release any ME's without them being returned, that has nothing to do with the BBC store launch, after which they will have all the time in the world to release them. In the meantime they have 11 million items in their archive to choose from. People are just pinning more hopes on a date. Seems like anyone will do.

I have not seen the e-mail, but I have heard and now read about the issue with more recoveries from PM's and IL's searches. Is that the same thing?
TBH, I wish that people had kept their yaps shut about some of the possibilities. I would prefer that those who may be able to get their hands on the episodes could just do so in peace. I would expect anyone in an hypothetical underground market to ask for up-front payment and a percentage of the gross before returning an episode because of the feeding frenzy that has been surrounding these rumours for almost two years now.

I remember attending an event in Birmingham (Memorabilia, I think), and someone showed me a "list" consisting of the majority of missing episodes.
That guy didn't realise at the time that the information he got was actually from ME on here, but even then, I was just passing around a list that, even then, everyone thought was too good to be true, including myself.
I say that if the BBC isn't in a hurry to release announcement on any new recoveries, then we as fans shouldn't be in a hurry to expect one. Like last year, it'll come when it comes.

I guess we have waited this long. A little longer won't hurt. What makes it worse is the classic range has ended for the time being. So nothing to really fill the void apart from new who...........

Very good points here.
It really is shameful when people start stalking and bad mouthing Phil Morris. The man had risked his life to bring us these episodes that we thought were lost forever and he is subjected to the most horrific abuse on Twitter and elsewhere. It really seems to be a thankless job what Mr. Morris doing. One moment he is a hero as he hands back the biggest haul of missing episodes then is a villain because certain sections of fandom want more.
But that email seems to fan the flames of paranoia. I find it a smear on a man who has worked very hard to recover the material he has found.
Anyway that is my rant over it's good that I was able to get that off my chest. It's like what Phil said in a recent Q&A: Paitence is a virtue.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, as I found out with this and other fandoms in the late 1980's, the crazies always seem to stomp out the sane people just on sheer energy and vitriol.

What a waste of effort all round. Surely any expunging should take place at the outset rather than wait for people to spend time on them.
