I've thought for a long time how frustrating a periodic visit to this site can be.Joy at finding that previously-lost shows have been found, certainly, but after that, what? If it's not legitimate to post anything but a 'find',then 99% of us have nothing to say most of the time. The site could be austere and pure, but that's not a terrifically warm place to visit.A chatty/reminiscing area could encourage visitors/traffic,and if just a percentage of those visitors have something substantive to offer about lost shows,we benefit.Look at the thread about memories of lost Top of the Pops. You don't get posts saying "Eureka! I've found this performance",but instead have reminiscences contributed about who did/said/wore what on the missing shows.Perfectly legitimate and helpful. And fun.

What a waste of effort all round. Surely any expunging should take place at the outset rather than wait for people to spend time on them. I guess if the cake ain't liked it gets binned ! Looks like the cake is back on the menu!

I think the idea of an 'on-topic' section is marvelous! Good grief, the comedian's a bear!

Eh. I always figured as long as a poll or thread had missing episodes as its primary focus (I personally count the colour Pertwees here), then a little OT talk was OK. IMHO, for instance, this thread is not OT because it has to do with the attempts at recovery of the missing episodes. But the mods have been here longer and have more experience, knowledge, and access than I do, so ultimately I had to defer.

We've got a whole board about material which is not only not missing but "Out of the archive".Many threads have reviewed and reveled in DW DVD releases...
It's natural that anyone visiting this site will want to reminisce. A hangout for them-make that for us-would be nice.
