A "still" frame from one of James' experiments with the process was posted on the Doctor Who forum some time ago (which I saved and have here) from a 1970 b/w t/r Top Of The Pops, proving it is more than a fanciful dream. I'd love to see it, could you upload it? (Use a free image host such as www.imageshack.us , you just upload it and it gives you the link).

Is this even possible? It sounds like a fanciful dream to me.

At a GSPS (Goon Show Preservation Society) event in 1996 they screened the first half of the 30/5/56 episode.

How many of these are "floating around"? I'd like to know that too? When was the first one and when was the last? It seems that 1978 & 1979 are the most widely circulated because of the Dr Who clips they contain.

I am trying to find out about one of the BBC Christmas Tapes that was aired between 1979-84. None of them were aired, the vt engineers made the videos for their own amusement and played them at their xmas party. The one you're thinking of was "White Powder Christmas" (1978) in which they edited an interview with Princess Anne to make it look like she was being interviewed by David Coleman and talking about sex. The Sunday People got hold of a copy of the video and the front page of the 31 Dec 1978 issue bore the headline "ANNE TELLY SPOOF SHOCK FOR BBC". The following years Christmas tape, "Good King Memorex" (1979) included a spoof commercial for the Sunday People and all the vt engineers in the video were wearing t-shirts with the front page printed on them.

What about "At The Palace"? Does the complete version exist? I've only seen a 2 min clip and wondered if that's all there was?

Only the filmed inserts exist for the 1967 Christmas Night With The Stars, not their appearance itself.

Ah thanks! Fun Factory! That's the show I was thinking of in my previous post.

Was Mersey Pirate the one that had a character called something like "Mr Nasty" with the catchphrase "Horrible!" or am I thinking of another show? I remember kids being urged to send in really horrible things through the post, and the Post Office didn't like it when kids started sending badly wrapped old fish and the like. If that's the show then I quite liked it.

There's an episode of Not The Nine O Clock News that was broadcast on 30.10.79 (5 days after the last episode of Fawlty Towers). It starts with the Fawlty Towers intro (with the sign with the letters falling off, etc), cut to Basil in the hotel, the phone rings and he answers it, saying something to the effect of "No, sorry, we don't have an episode this week, instead here's this shoddy compilation." Then it goes into NTNOCN. Manuel appears near the end of the show too. Add this to the list of "Thirteenth Episodes"!

I believe it was a joke he told on a live radio show that got him banned from the BBC. The joke was something along the lines of "I was walking across a single-span bridge when I saw a beautiful woman walking across the bridge towards me. I didn't know whether to block her passage or toss myself off."

Same here, page unavailable is displayed. When I tried the site yesterday the response time was very slow, about 30 seconds. I guess so many people are trying to access it that it can't handle it.

I'd rather Infax listed every programme the BBC had ever made, with some kind of simple indication where there are no holdings. I was going to say the same thing. I found some things I searched for weren't listed at all, but that tells me nothing. It could be that no episodes exist or it could mean that they haven't been added to the database yet (as the site itself says, "it's vast, but not comprehensive".)
