I'm guessing they were part of the clearout in the early 1990s. Cant remember where I read it (possibly on this forum) but im sure someone said they were not wiped just "missing". Edit BBC say: 24/05/80 digibeta (we also have the untx’d 1st edit on digibeta) 31/05/80 WIPED 07/06/80 digibeta 14/06/80 digibeta 21/06/80 digibeta ex VHS from private collector 02/11/81 digibeta 09/11/81 WIPED 16/11/81 digibeta (and we also have a studio recording tape on digibeta) 23/11/81 WIPED 30/11/81 digibeta 02/02/84 digibeta 09/02/84 digibeta 16/02/84 digibeta 23/02/84 digibeta 01/03/84 digibeta 08/03/84 digibeta 07/01/86 digibeta 14/01/86 digibeta 21/01/86 digibeta 04/02/86 digibeta 11/02/86 digibeta 18/02/86 digibeta So we do have 18 out of 22 shows in the original format, and one more recovered from VHS.

Puzzling how the BBC managed to wipe any of these, as they are all post-1978 programmes, and how 09/11/81 is still missing, according to Lostshows. Your copies of both editions are in good condition. Possibly one or more people who appeared on the show may have their own copies of the missing editions 31/05/80 and 23/11/81? Remember wiping were still happening until the 90s! I agree. The wipings were supposed to end in 1978 then several Children's Programmes, that survived the initial wave of wipings, ended up being wiped in 1993, before, the Children's Television department were consulted.

I'm guessing they were part of the clearout in the early 1990s. Unfortunately, yes. The good news is a certain amount has been recovered including, I believe, some of the editions that were wiped in the 1990s.

As you supplied your copies to Kaleidoscope, this sounds like a misprint and this edition is more than likely also back at the BBC via Kaleidoscope?

If Kaleidoscope have it, then the BBC will be able to gain access to it, if they ask, as I understand it. Chris Perry can speak definitively and authoritatively, rather than myself, but, assuredly, the Beeb and Kal have an excellent working relationship.

I've e-mailed Chris about the 09/11/81 edition. He once told me that Kaleidoscope retain a copy of footage then forward the other copy to the broadcaster, eg BBC 1, unless he meant when requested. Unsure.

Yes we pass on anything the BBC want. If they decline it, we keep it anyway. But 99% of the time they take it.

Has anyone actually managed to sign up to the Roobarb Forum recently? I've joined a couple of times using different emails, but never received an activation email so can't post over there. You can't Private Message until your email is verified either so no way of contacting admin even when they are shown as "online". The only email given on the site is admin[at]zetaminor.com but emails sent there bounce straight back! Perhaps they just don't want any new members...

BrokenTV+1 joined Roobarb on 4th Feb, so it was working then.I hope (he or she hasn't posted yet). No word, second-hand, about people having problems registering. Hope you find a way, Simon. If not,I can ask onsite.
