Bump.
I've been asked to investigate this!
If anyone has further information of the whereabouts of this series, please let me know.
Keep 'em peeled....

On the suggestion of the excellent Simon Moreby, I have emailed one of the creative team involved in the production of the show.

The member of the creative team has no idea where to find episodes. I am worrying we may have to consider it lost, although I note lostshows.com says it exists. But where?

It's interesting they the tapes weren't sold on to any of the companies who have bought up the back catalogues of ex-ITV companies.

Wasn't the company linked to Granada? I did some checking a while back and the best I was able to come up with was the following:
* Granada Television series Series 4 (13) 4 January-12 April 1986 · Saturday 2:15pm Other ITV stations which broadcast Series 4 in 1986:
* Anglia: 9 January-1 April - All episodes * Central: Saturdays 1–22 February, then 12 July- 6 September - All episodes. * HTV West: 1 February- 15 February THEN 15 November - 6 December Then 16 January - 6 March 1987
* Tyne Tees: 1 February- 29 March (9 episodes) - Certain episodes. * Border: Saturdays 1–22 February ( 4 episodes) - Certain episodes. * TSW: 22 December.
So only Anglia, Central and Granada covered the full series. HTV Wales, STV, Grampain, LWT, TVS never touched it.

ITV don't have this; the BFI don't have this.
Tri Films are no longer going. Albert Moses has sadly passed on, although we spoke by email a year or two before he died and he didn't have any of Season 4.
I was told that it was still being shown in Singapore (!).
I followed it up. Transpires they are showing the OTHER seasons.
I received an email this morning from Rewind Networks in Singapore:-
""We have not obtained the rights for season 4 of Mind Your language and not very certain on who holds the right for the same. "" MYL in Singapore is not Season 4.
It's still missing as far as I'm concerned.

Living in London I missed out on Series 4, as it appears LWT didn't want anything to do with it. I have seen clips of it on YouTube, though, uploaded last year by someone who went on to post the following comments:
When challenged that the series wasn't broadcast until 1986 he responds:
And when quizzed about the bland set and the fact that there are fewer students in the class, he mentions:
If, as suggested, it was sold overseas, then there may still be one or two international broadcasters who still have copies. TV Brain are now listing all 13 episodes as missing...

The tvbrain entry reads 'J' for junked now. I messaged them a while back (mid-February) as I had been asked to look for the series by several people.
It's very good that these are being found. Great work.
Whatever one thinks of the series, it's a missing TV work and, like everything possible, I want this tracked down.

The box-set of MYL has misled me in the past, since it says "The complete LWT series"!

Season 4 came later when LWT had long finished with it. No intention to mislead, I'm sure, but I bet a lot of people think "Ah! Every episode of MYL!". When I first read about a missing series, I did a bit of a double-take...

When I first read about a missing series, I did a bit of a double-take... For most of us, because of where we live, there were only ever three series of MYL. Only five ITV regions showed the full Series 4: TSW - 13 episodes - 30th Sep-31st Dec 1985 Granada - 13 episodes - 4th Jan-24th Apr 1986 Anglia - 13 episodes - 9th Jan-1st Apr 1986 Central - 13 episodes - 1st Feb-6th Sep 1986 HTV West - 13 episodes - 1st Feb 1986-6th Mar 1987 Both Central and HTV West dragged out transmission by showing the series in blocks instead of a complete run. Two regions showed only some episodes: Tyne Tees - 9 episodes - 1st Feb-19th Mar 1986 Border - 4 episodes - 1st Feb-22nd Feb 1986 The remaining ITV regions don't appear to have shown it at all: STV - UTV - Grampian - Channel - HTV Cymru Wales - Yorkshire - Thames/LWT - TVS Unlike the LWT series, the TRI Films series doesn't appear to have had any repeats in the UK either. N.B. The broadcast dates given on TV Brain are for the Birmingham transmissions (presumably because that's Kaleidoscope's local area) rather than first broadcast.

Good one, Simon. (There's a thread on 'ITV region-roulette' on the Mausoleum Club).

I wouldn't have thought that any company would be will to show series 4 anymore, or release it on DVD... ...but one option might be to contact some of the current offices of Trestle Theatre Theatre Company Ltd., as here find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/01962946/officers as that was the only company that Albert Moses who, it looks like, produced series 4 was on the board of. They might know something.
