I know allllllllllllll about that madness as I was embroiled in its stupidity. It was a movie by the way, not a show. Rather leave it be or I'll lose years of my life.....AGAIN.

Re the above critique...Does anyone know who the obscure group from the Lebanon referred to could have been ?

Thanks John ...I like their sound from the links you provided. Yes, unfairly maligned by J.G. in the Edinburgh Evening News

I've posted quite a few of Mr Gibson's Top of the Pops reviews on the forum and he had it in for the majority of groups or solo artists ...but strangely enough never seemed to criticise Pans People.
Of course he was entitled to his view ...which I often disagreed with
Another thing is I wish these old TV reviews of old pop shows had been more thorough and discussed the songs etc but the majority just dealt with superfluous details i.e. what such and such an artist was wearing etc.
NB: I have had some new info from a friend and therefore I have updated the first post on this thread to show more info on the very first show.

Fantastic! So good to see this. I'm guessing the original soundtrack to the clip features live vocals over the single's backing track?

I wonder if it was an all-live version, as the show had Bernard Hermann and the Northern Dance Orchestra on hand for musical backing (those AKG microphones look to be plugged in to something too!) - the visuals don't sync perfectly with the sound, which makes me think perhaps it was live.

I love The Paper Dolls. Fantastic synchronised sitting down dancing too. Looks like it was live to me. So where did this surface? Could full episodes exist? Is it simply a one off excerpt sent overseas?

Is it simply a one off excerpt sent overseas? It surfaced in the Netherlands. Paul Watkins found it! I don't think there's anything else but this (as Paul will no doubt confirm) but we're always looking!

The performance was mimed on the original tape. The clip is also incomplete. Originally in 3 reels but the third one has been lost, hence TopPop have looped the video they posted to make it look complete. It is the only clip from All Systems Freeman that currently exists, but still looking for more.

I greatly enjoyed All Systems Freeman which was aimed at my then age group. Fluff was in his element pressing buttons and lining up discs on his mock DJ desk. However, I imagine the middle aged, jazz loving BBC execs of the time did not see the programme as having any historical or cultural value to justify archiving any of it.
