That Smowmen footage looks incredible,I'm in the "no" camp, but that is a great great piece of work I agree! Impressive work all around!

You've won me over if both versions were presented side by side and original material, set shots in colour, etc, where it exists, was used to make decisions on the colours used.

As Pelham court previously stated. I'm going to give it a go. There's been some really interesting responses to this thread and it's made my mind up for me. I've started work on colourising an entire episode of Hartnell era DW. I'll be posting updates on my twitter account: twitter.com/farfromalloverColourisation is a divisive issue. It's not something I think the BBC would be hugely interested in, and I think the economics of it simply don't make sense. The man hours involved are astronomical simply because good colourisation is very, very difficult. Then consider that dealing out criticism is remarkably easy. I've had an overwhelmingly positive response to my announcement and it's really put the wind in my sails. One twitter user wrote "I've always maintained that 60s Who should remain in b/w or it would lose all it's magic. That is until I saw your work." That got me very choked up, I can tell you! So I'm giving it a go, for better or worse. I'm not being funded, it's a labour of love and I'm taking my time in order to do it justice. When it's complete, nobody will be forcing you to watch it. I'm not campaigning for a whole SE re-release of classic serials in colour. I'm just going to give it a go, see what works/doesn't and hopefully brighten a few peoples day along the way. Anyone interested in my work, here's a good example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=auUgnQ2qJFM

Especially that bit of the Daleks Master paln you did. I loved that.

I guess there will always be the prudes who wont like it ! But i think the short bits done thus far are great I suppose many were put off by the colourisations of the 80's and 90's (mostly done by the Turner Entertainment network) Colourising to produce true lifelike colour grading so that each part of an image doesn't look 'flat' takes a great deal more time - to complete an entire Who story properly would take years...but I'd love to see it. Poor Babelcolour took 18 months of his life out to create the colour for episode one of Mind Of Evil and that was with the assistance of a chap generating the majority of the frames using a technology to extrapolate intermediate image info...I do miss his colourising work but I can understand how burnt out he must have become. I'm glad there are people like Richard 'farfromallover' Tipple and Pelham Court keeping the flame alive though

I have to say that not much more can be really done to the 60s stuff that we have. So to have them in colour would be really great i think im sure all who started the show back in 63 would of said yes without doubt if it were available at the time.
