Sweet actually don't do too badly compared to many other artists from the same era. Out of 30 TOTP performances that they recorded, 15 still survive. And I'm pretty confident that at least 2 more will come to light soon. Phil any chance of listing the 15 that do survive and the 15 that don't cheers Alan. Will do.

Another 1970 performance I forgot to mention yesterday was : FAMILY - The Weaver's Answer I remember seeing it at the time, and a short (colour) clip of this was used in an edition of Pop Quiz circa 1985. I remember Roger Chapman fluffing his live vocal, and wearing an "Anyway" t-shirt..

I'd love to see King Crimson playing Cat Food (1970, I think).

Curved Air "Back Street Luv", simply because I can never get enough of Sonja Kristina. Also King Crimson and Caravan's appearances in 1970. Good news...apparently Cat Food survives! Attachments:

Good news...apparently Cat Food survives! I haven't heard about this, ignoramus that I am. Roger, do you have any other details such as where it resides? Is it another discovery from Hits A Go Go? Anyway, fantastic news that it apparently survives. Edit: Just noticed your 'lips are sealed' emoticon. Well I hope details will emerge in due course.

I'm not sure what the 'politics' regarding the Cat Food clip are, so I'll remove the link I posted.

Not a very smart move plastering this on Youtube I wouldnt have thought. But then again my thoughts on Youtube are well documented.

This has just been posted on the DGM Live website run by King Crimson's Robert Fripp. Seems they are negotiating for the return of the footage:
Cat Food Again! :: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Jan 8, 2015
Over the last 24 hours there’s been an understandable flurry of excitement online and across social media at King Crimson’s 1970 Top of the Pops appearance turning up on Youtube featuring Keith Tippett, Michael and Peter Giles, Robert Fripp and Greg Lake playing Cat Food. Up until then the only known documentation of the band's appearance to lip sync their single on the show were Harry Hammond's photographs.
DGM were alerted about the existence of the video at the start of the week just before it went online and immediately entered into discussions to have the footage returned to the KC archive.
The original footage had indeed been wiped by the BBC. However, foreign TV stations who bought the show were able to record their own continuity and insert them into BBC footage for transmission in their countries. In this instance the host is Joe Berger for the German show Hits A Go Go.
The lost footage was the source of a spoof news report on this site back in 2006 for April Fools Day. The DGMLive prankster team were considering another pass at the story later this year but will now have to come up with another wheeze!
**Incidentally moderators, isn't the Cat Food affair now worthy of its own thread?!
