What was your documentary called, Paul? I missed it when it was shown and would love to see it. You can watch it online. There is an annoying factual error in the captioning which was corrected for broadcast, but the online people have uploaded the incorrect version. Dates are correct. Days of the week incorrect! www.bbc.co.uk/archive/moonlandings/7620.shtmlPaul

A fascinating read, thanks Matthew. Glad to pass it on. It's also a good reminder that the belief that stuff recorded on old tapes had limited value is not limited to television and was in fact fairly general. And Sticky Shed rears its ugly head yet again...

Has anyone noticed that an edition of Panorama with Robin Day from just after the Apollo 11 touchdown has appeared on iPlayer?

Has anyone noticed that an edition of Panorama with Robin Day from just after the Apollo 11 touchdown has appeared on iPlayer? It's been up a while. A nice show. Worth pointing out that the delayed interview with Dr. Paine that Michael Charlton did from Houston survives intact on the BBC's satellite recordings, and in colour. I suspect that the Pilger film insert may also have been shot in colour. No idea whether it survives. The show may well have been done in a colour studio, which means that there might be a colour subcarrier recorded on the film. No evidence of that on the iPlayer transfer. Paul

Yes, it was fascinating and a great case study into the decorum and intelligence shown in TV interviews in general of that era. On the technical front, I couldn't help thinking I could see chromadot fringing on the transfer.. I watched it on a Virgin Media V6 box and the full definition of the transfer was very evident.

p.s. I forgot to mention. Some people listen. It is my recording a segment of a Missing Episode of Adam Adamant Lives! that currently appears on the DVD collection of that programme. Alas I was not credited. I feel your pain. One of my finds was released on DVD and not a single damn thank you anywhere to be seen.

Just curious, does the documentary "Man On The Moon" from BBC1, 17/7/69 exist in the archives?
