Who produced this series then? I'd never heard of it before (sounds like an ATV sort of thing).

One More Time - I think its more likely the clip is from the 1976 BBC series of the same name that does exist and featured Mike Redway?

I thought that too at first, but it's Mike Redway's own site on youtube (he states that it's between 1969 and 1973, which ties in with the 1970 series). I think we'll have to have someone check with Mr Redway.

He could just be wrong :-) 1973 and 1976 are close. Looking at the quality of the footage it looks like 2" and in 1970 Mike wouldn't have had a colour machine to record it.....

The Errol Flynn Theatre episodes at UCLA are well known about. The series' history is a little complex because it was a US/UK co-production. It was shot on 35mm film and screened in conjunction with Rediffusion from 1956. What UCLA hold are a set of edited 16mm syndication prints made for the US market. All the 35mm material is missing as are the other episodes you have highlighted in your post. Interestingly, The Mirror And Markheim wasn't actually produced as part of the series - it was a retooled Hammer pilot and may not have been sold into syndication.

Thank you Ken (and John). I wasn't sure if this had been covered.

Interesting find John because it was a BBC show - yet Shari Lewis did a series for LWT around the same time during the colour strike era. IMDB seem to have a blind spot for her children's shows from that period: www.imdb.com/name/nm0507741/?ref_=sr_1#Self Part of the problem-or good thing about the IMDB is that you have to provide evidence that a show ever existed, in for example a link to a newspaper cutting, before they will list it. This makes a dilemma for ultra rare stuff that people have vague memories of, as there is either vitually no media materials around to prove it..or people have difficulty in getting their own scrapbook materials on line to provide a link.

I have found an episode of Seeing and Doing that is listed as missing:-
""Missing or incomplete episodes for programme SEEING AND DOING.
Series 7 18.05.70 The Tower Of London (missing)""
It is in the National Arts Education Archive, which I covered in a previous thread a few years ago.
I revisited the thread and I found I'd missed this one. There's possibly a few more.

Nice one, Ray. I remember this series and have always wondered exactly how many from the earlier years remain. I wonder what format it's on?

The episode is on video, rather than 16mm at NAEA, that I know; I am unsure what format, as it is from a rebroadcast in the late 70's, it is likely to be on Philips (the IBA had a Philips video from '74, prob an N1500 I guess) or maybe a later domestic video format. My betting is on the latter.

Amazing these were still around for re-broadcast in the late '70s but discarded afterwards. Changes of ownership of the Thames library played their part, I suspect. I have seen the odd episode over the years though, so I suspect there may be a few broadcast masters in private hands even if Fremantle don't hold many (any?). Schools programmes form such an important part of our early development and it's disgusting that more of them haven't been preserved for re-evaluation on that basis. Still, a nice discovery!
