Happy days now that there's just one episode of this series listed as missing,'The Case of Uncle Henry'. There's a note here: www.bvws.org.uk/405alive/info/prog_stryker.html that the series was still being shown on Channel TV as late as 1972.There have been a few hints that there might be an archive worth searching there,if I've got it right? It would be nice to find that last episode!

As I understand it, Stryker started with a cinema film, which was later cut into two TV episodes. Uncle Henry (or is it Harry) was one of these. I think someone said that the movie still exists. Can this be confirmed? www.imdb.com/title/tt0218639/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2Oh, and I think you posted the wrong link. I can't see anything about Stryker there.

Sorry about that,Pete.I've fixed the link. There were 2 cinema films I believe, which later became 4 of the weekly stories. They were shown internationally and had different titles,in Australia at least,to their UK ones.

There have been a few hints that there might be an archive worth searching there,if I've got it right?! Re: Channel TV. It's an avenue worth following with regard to missing material generally! I haven't heard them mentioned previously with regard to lost TV; they didn't make that many programmes for the network (and I don't even know how much of an archive they might have) but it may be worth pursuing for recordings from other broadcasters which might be lying around from regional transmissions. Channel TV ceased to exist effectively a short while back so now would seem a good time to look into it, before "spring cleaning" takes place (if it hasn't already)! Has anybody approached them?

Laurence, it was your suggestion on here sometime last year about the possibility of searching this archive, reinforced by the claim re Stryker that they may have been broadcasting fairly ancient material in the early 70s,that led me to start this thread.I'd love to think that there's material out there.

Yes, that's right. I was meaning I hadn't heard anyone else mention Channel in relation to archive material. You never know what sort of things the small out of the way companies like this might have lying around.

It'll be fun googling 'Channel TV'.I bet it gives a lot of results.
Why couldn't they call themselves 'Tyne Tees' or something?

I have tried various attempts at finding stuff sur La Manche, so to speak. Apart from a not-100%-certainly-missing-film in the States of Jersey archive, I've found nowt.

Why am I bouncing this thread EIGHT years later? Mystery solved! It's confirmed that the episode, 'the Case of Uncle Henry' is part of the feature film that the BFI hold. Might be mute though? Listing, with confirmation:- collections-search.bfi.org.uk/web/Details/ChoiceFilmWorks/150047674#(In 2013, I remember looking for this....and the BFI's search engine being temporarily unavailable. I subsequently forgot about it!)

Channel as the only channel on air during the ITV long strike needed a lot of archive material to fill in the network blanks.
