Have been offered a box of v2000 tapes today - don't know what is on them, or how many, but I do know they were recorded late 70s/early 80s. I can't do anything with them so woudl like to know if:
a/ anyone is interested? b/ if anyone can do something with them?
I can be contacted on work@sarnold.co.uk by anyone who is seriously interested.

I believe there is a website for V2000 owners (someone here will probably have the address). I would keep hold of the tapes - at least until you have identified what's on them - as they just MAY contain something of value; there are missing programmes from the late '70s / early '80s (particularly companies like ATV, Southern etc) and also there may be interesting continuity announcements or regional news programmes that will not survive elsewhere. Just a possibility, mind, but it's best to play it safe!

always play it safe with old video, there may be older programs in the form of repeats and live programs not kept at the time.

No fear about dumping them - I am a dedicated locator of radio material (running britishcomedy.org.uk etc.) so know the ropes. This is how the tapes have surfaced, through a radio collection. They were recorded in Carlisle so may have regional stuff on from there. I will have them by the end of Sept and someone has already come forward to help with the transferring and logging of contents.

yes double sided i'd forgotten that, according to one of my reference books written in 1978 the proposed date for the v2000 was 1979/80 I have a nightmare of people junking or rubbing over old tapes it does happen often and it probably is right now
