I've been discussing a piece someone recalled. Mid 1970s, a man looking at a painting in a gallery, the world of which into the camera takes us, with real actors in costumes as depicted.
I think this was in an edition of LWTs 'AQUARIUS' magazine & arts show. The piece had been billed as 'a dramatisation based on the art of Heironymous Bosch'. Dated around 1974 or 75 I think. The only scene I recall was where a procession of figures in period costume march across the top of a hill, then seen in distant silhouette. One figure was wheeling a harp. Another had an inverted funnel on his head as in some of Boschs paintings.
The other early memories I have are: one where I'm sure a pregnant lady was seen at the front of a stage, as in a drama singing a song 'Ezebels a Jezebel' ? I didn't understand it. Could have been something from a stage show. Seem to recall Humphrey Barclay making a verbal link after it, around 1970.
The third memory was of D.J. Kenny Everett as a 'roving reporter' driving around the country. Shot from the interior of his car with him talking over music he liked. This included a Fairport Convention instrumental he had selected for use in his own series 'Kenny Everett Explosion' and 'Ev'.
I wondered if anyone has any idea what the Archive for the show is like, and can add to my descriptions?

This was the predecessor to Melvin Bragg's huge meal ticket 'The south bank show'
Introduced by Humphrey Davy? (or something) It was more a magazine show than the SBS, which tends to focus on one subject of the arts.
A typically well remembered one showed Adam Faith recording Budgie , with an item on Sandy Wilson the music hall star and John Woodvine doing a monologue.
The one with Kenny Everett featured him travelling around London giving his opinion on what he thought were bad or good monuments.
It ran circa 1969 to 76 being an LWT production the archive is good and maybe almost if not complete?

Eh? "Up Sunday" was a satirical show on BBC2 in the early seventies - Willie Rushton etc, the usual suspects of the time. Signature tune by Santana.

IIRC the producer was Humphrey Barclay. As were early editions of "I'm Sorry I'll Read that Again". Line read in credits as "the show was :)produced by Humphry Barclay, who was produced by Mr and Mrs Barclay".

The "Aquarius" presenter was Humphrey Burton.
Humphrey Barclay was LWT Comedy head honcho for a time, I suppose he might have been involved with "Aquarius" - "Doctor in the House" was more his style mind you.
Benny Hill spoofed Burton (with his trademark spectacles) in the early 70s ... using his character "Humphrey Bumphrey"

Did Aquarius begin in 1969? I can't recall when it actually started and assumed it was around 1970 - did it pre-date colour on ITV though?
