Evidence here that out of the unknown may have been shown in america, ita possible NTSC copies or off air copies may still exist there Attachments:

It would definitely be nice to think there were more copies out there, particularly for series 3 (which was in colour and is the worst represented in the archives). Unfortunately I've no idea about which countries took OOTU although possibly someone here with BBC knowledge would (?).

given how many colour pertwees were recovered from america, I am surprised that no ootu episodes were found if it is the case that it was sold to america. Unless it wasn't ever checked for?...

Unfortunately I've no idea about which countries took OOTU although possibly someone here with BBC knowledge would (?). I can help there. OOTU aired in NZ on 16mm film: * 11 eps of Series 1 in 1967: different films were then sent to Finland (3) and Hungary (8) * 10 eps of Series 2 in 1970: films went to Finland (1), Sierra Leone (6) and Sweden (1), unknown (2) * 11 eps of Series 3 in 1972-3: to Yugoslavia (3), unknown (8) * Series 4 never aired Contrary to popular belief, the Izaac Asimov stories did air overseas: but only two, Sucker Bait and Dead Past, aired in NZ.

Would be nice if it was shown in america however, that is not proof. Proof would either be a tv listings in a newspaper or tv guide.
Key is to find out where this guy is from and do some research.
Also its interesting that he recognized Troughton as the Doctor but at that time US fandom was in its beginning and had very little if any exposure to him as the doctor at that time. This is even before the five faces was shown in uk so he was never seen here as Doctor Who. Unless you count the 3 doctors which had very limited distribution (if at all)

Would be nice if it was shown in america however, that is not proof. Simple solution is to see if there's any BBC Sales record of the stories being sold to America. Was OOTU sold to Canada?

Agree with GeorgeD sales to the USA are very unlikely unless...... A. there was some American involvement B. it was a costume drama.
