If this post is true, it's very interesting. .
"None of these episodes have ever been 'missing' as such. Just missing from the BBC collections.
English audio tracks do still exist in Germany for Temple, but not in the archive from which these DVD releases are drawn. Many attempts have been made to re-repatriate the 'missing' English language Temple episodes back from Germany to the UK. However, all these attempts have failed due to the apparently exorbitant transfer and handling charges quoted by the German side. Private attempts to get the films back, made by other bodies (outside the BBC) have failed for the same reason"

Charles Norton has confimed that the Germans have the English audio as well. But no deal could be struck and so far it looks like the German DVD sets won't include the English soundtrack. That's good enough for me. At present,we do at least know that many episodes listed as missing on Lostshows,e.g. Series 2 05.04.70 Right Villain (missing) 12.04.70 Kill Or Cure (missing) 26.04.70 The Artnappers (missing) 03.05.70 The Black Room (missing) Antique Death 10.05.70 Episode 1 (missing) 17.05.70 Episode 2 (missing) 24.05.70 Double Vision (missing) 28.06.70 Steal A Little Happiness (missing) 05.07.70 The Suitcase (missing) Murder In Munich 12.07.70 Episode 1 (missing) 19.07.70 Episode 2 (missing) 26.07.70 Re-take (missing) Series 3 10.01.71 House Of The Dead (missing) 17.01.71 Sea Burial (missing) 24.01.71 Night Train (missing) 14.02.71 Death For Divers' Reasons (missing) 21.02.71 A Greek Tragedy (missing) 14.03.71 Requiem For a Don (missing) are now out on DVD,albeit with a German-language soundtrack.

If I've got it right,these:
04.08.71 The Guilty Must Die A 16mm black-and-white film print exists, but the programme was originally made using 2" colour videotape. 11.08.71 Game, Set And Match A 16mm black-and-white film print exists, but the programme was originally made using 2" colour videotape. 18.08.71 Long Ride To Red Gap A 16mm black-and-white film print exists, but the programme was originally made using 2" colour videotape. 25.08.71 Winner Takes All A 16mm black-and-white film print exists, but the programme was originally made using 2" colour videotape. 1.09.71 Critics, Yes! But This Is Ridiculous! A 16mm black-and-white film print exists, but the programme was originally made using 2" colour videotape.
are now released in colour?

Yes they are. Interestingly the title sequence for these episodes is the earlier 'running man' one unlike the one on the Acorn release.

Specifically, they're colour telerecordings. It could well be that some of the episodes released in Germany are re-edited in one way or another.

In the DVD 'extra' interview with Francis Matthews (I still picture Captain Scarlet when he speaks !) - luckily done in time considering we've lost him now - Francis tells of how much he HATED the original 'running man' intro with what he called a 'horrible jangly' version of the theme tune
Francis keenly advises re the 'running man' that it most certainly WASN'T ME ! (my Mum used to say 'that Francis Matthews is a good runner' !)
he says how he got both the theme tune and the intro changed (to a more 'Bondish' style one)
and that apparently Huw Weldon later apologised to him for BBC axeing 'Paul Temple' which they felt was 'too ITV' in style and that Roger Moore told him he based Brett Sinclair's look in 'The Persuaders' on Francis stylish look in 'Paul Temple'
Hopefully one day the English soundtracks can be reunited with the surviving colour German episodes for us to enjoy again
it would be well worth it to see more of gorgeous Roz Drinkwater alone...!!

Has anyone ascertained what became of the Dutch subtitled English language episodes of Paul Temple broadcast by KRO? Historically Paul Temple had been adapted on Dutch radio as Paul Vlaanderen so the BBC-ZDF series was broadcast under that name as well. English translation: Radiodetective on television This winter the radio play Paul Vlaanderen will be broadcasted by the KRO in thirteen episodes. In English, in black and white. The KRO has purchased the series from the BBC, which visualised the detective story together with the German company Gamma. One of the episodes was shot in Amsterdam.
Given the date of the article it can only be series 2 referred to.

No doubt it was shown in a few other countries as well. But this almost never leads to anything - they returned the copies or destroyed them later. Nothing to see here except for a few stills: zoeken.beeldengeluid.nl

English translation: Paul Vlaanderen Wednesday evening 8 March KRO television will resume the series Paul Vlaanderen , produced by Taurusfilm in co-production with the BBC and the KRO. Of the series Paul Vlaanderen, brainchild of Francis Durbridge, the KRO will broadcast nine episodes in the coming months on both the four-weekly Wednesday evening and the four-weekly Saturday evening, both via Nederland 2. Surely the odds on KRO retaining the episodes has just improved, just hope they had a better archives policy than the BBC or ZDF

Just try the link from my previous post. Newspaper might be not 100% accurate, or, the KRO was rubbish at archiving and assumed the others took care of it. At any rate it's not going to save the first series and the rest exists in some form or other. At any rate, wasn't the problem supposed to be that there were two archives in Germany and one, that MIGHT have English audio tracks, was refusing to play ball?

Also, from the rhubarb thread it seems that: "Of the 39 episodes [i.e. seasons 2-4, German DVD sets], only 17 have an English option for the audio." Namely the 16 at the BBC and one other.
I have seen broadcasts in schedules not only for Germany, but also for the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. But the central archives in those three countries seem to have no copies. This is how it usually goes. (Also, French spoken episodes would not be any better than in German.)
It was shown on an obscure Belgian/Luxemburgois channel too - who knows...? I have no information about Scandinavia or the Mediterranean.
Home recorded audio tapes would be the other option.

Unrelated to the recent ebay sale, I spotted a clip with some footage in another program.
A classic "burgling the enemy's office" scene.
It's said to be from S2E1 "Right villain"... but, when I check out that episode in German ("Gangsterspiel"), I don't seem to see anything like this??
Anyone?
