It might also be worth pointing out that the starting price is a lot higher than his other auctions and there's no Buy It Now option (like most of his other auctions), suggesting he knows it's missing (although hasn't said so, which is suspicious).

He had a buy it now of $350 when the auction started but whoever it was who placed the first bid was silly enough to bid the $300 opening bid rather than just buying it which removes the Buy It Now option... If that person is here and really wants to take a chance on the film, then that person should retract his initial bid (Which will bring back the BuyItNow) and then immediately use Buy it now... (This will only work until someone else bids)...

Should I e-mail the bidder to let them know? It seems that lately, a lot of missing footage is turning up on eBay, which I suppose is a good thing as it might otherwise have been lost and it saves people looking for the episodes when the episodes come to them! Problem is that it sparks a whole new way to start hoaxes and cons...

OK Todd... Im the loser that bid on it for $300 and took away the BUY IT NOW for $350 ....both prices which ever way it gets sold are a rip off ..... Todd if you want to Buy It Now for $350 I will gladly retract my bid...... My intention was to donate it to the archives anyway.....
If I'm going to be ridiculed on here for trying to do a good deed ...I would rather spend my money on upcoming Network DVD releases.

Don't get your panties in a twist Elise...
The point is that for $50 more you could have just bought the film and returned it to the archives (if that was your intention). Whereas now, you may have to fight with other buyers and you may have to pay a lot more than that.
Personally, I'm not interested - it just seems to be that if you think it's worth $300, then it's probably worth spending and extra $50 to guarentee that you get it.

I would urge caution concerning trash-converters , A print I won from him on ebay took months to turn up and I was consistently lied to along the way , even to the point that when it finally turned up the postmark was about two months later than the date he finally said he'd posted it.

I'm concerned now that a possible hoarder might grab the episode whilst they can, although I can't imagine there's much profit to be made from Boyd QC.
I've e-mailed Dick Fiddy about the auction and hopefully the BFI will be able to purchase the episode (and I doubt the seller will want to mess with the BFI).

I was bidding on the film but Todd (see earlier post) who didnt have the money or time to buy the episode himself convinced me to withdraw my bid ... so someone more serious than myself could buy it.
I really hope it get's returned.
Phil
