Not Johnny Kidd, but (former and later Pirate) Mick Green's blistering guitar work makes this sound more like The Pirates than The Dakotas!

This is fantastic news if it's true! Anyone know what song(s) were performed?

Certainly hope it's true. I've had different members of staff check the archive out for Kidd footage over the last several years on many occasions (just in case !) and it's always come up negative even when I also supplied details of the shows he appeared on which were surprisingly few. Open House was a live transmission and Kidd and The Pirates played Your Cheating Heart, the B-side of their current 45 Whole Lotta Woman. There is a stunning radio version of this song by the Mick Green era line-up. Open House would have featured John Weider on guitar as he replaced Green in July 1964 but if the performance is half as good as the version I referenced then it will be superb. I'm not sure many people realise just how good a singer Kidd was.

I have an account there but searching Kidd, The Nashville Teens and Dionne, Open House doesn't bring that episode up or a listing for the series either as lost or existing. I can find "THESE PROGRAMMES, WHICH EXIST COMPLETE, MATCHED YOUR SEARCH. OPEN HOUSE (1964)" but the link takes us to one episode - 05.12.1964 R1 / A recording is held in the Kaleidoscope Archive. Tony Hancock. I have Programme logs for the whole series run and if the entire series survived it would be incredible. Rolling Stones ,Hollies, Manfred's, Dusty, Yardbirds, Beach Boys and most importantly Kidd as you mention. However, I think many or most were tx live so forgive me if I'm skeptical (though still highly over-excited).

Only the 5/12/64 and a couple of other clips from the series are held in BBC Archives as far as I can be told. Frustratingly, a clip from 7 Nov 1964 exists but it's not The Beach Boys. I hope you're not gonna have to walk the plank William ! If not, I will but I need to see the Kidd clip first !!
