RSG is one programme I haven't checked out on Lost Shows before. It seems to be saying that five editions are complete (and two more incomplete) - does anyone know which five these are, by any chance? I only know of three (Oct '63, Nov / Dec '64 and the '66 Otis Redding special; possibly the Sounds Of Motown special is complete as well although any screenings of it in recent years have seemed to be only partial).
The other point is there must be more than just two more incomplete to add to the total surviving clips because there was a lot more material than that used in the dozen or so Dave Clark compilations if you put it end to end (non-RSG insertions not withstanding!). Many of the compilations had different title sequences / intros on them too, suggesting at least a number of existing beginning chunks of shows.

I taped them at the time, and they fitted onto a three hour VHS Cassette I still have somewhere.
I remember one singer having a "new way of singing", all swooping tones, the presenters did not look impressed. Oh, and Spike Milligan 'being able to recognise Jelly', and suchlike...

You'll find all three episodes featuring Beatles appearances - one from 63 and two from 64 survive in their entirety in the BFI. Other than that there are just a few others and some inserts. While it might seem paltry, it had a better survival rate than "Thank Your Lucky Stars". Some of the complete versions do the rounds on the collectors circuit (I have two) and seemingly the rest are with Dave Clark. Given that RSG was repeated at different time slots across the country (some later that same evening) I am wondering how they were copied? One unedited version I have is clearly a 16mm telecine - although that would have had to have been processed very quickly to meet the repeat slot. If indeed they all were telecined- it means that there is a possibility that there are missing episodes out there-somewhere. Just a thought, Si

Just a thought, Si I too always thought that the very case that RSG! was shown in different regional time slots would suggest that copies were made and therefore the survival rate of lost copies would be higher than normal. Of course we all know of the Walker Brothers insert on Beat Club that also indicates possible sales of copies too! Here's hoping that some turn up and maybe one day DC will open up his archive!

What would the other two complete shows featuring The Beatles be, Simon? What is the line-up / dates for these for identification purposes? I wonder if the entire run was t/rd? Bearing in mind that all the existing material is in this form (no VT), it seems likely; presumably for potential overseas (or clip) sales (to merely timeshift for the other ITV regions would surely have been easier / cheaper and normally done by tape). As there are performances by Walker Bros and The Zombies out there, it seems likely.

Ah, I didn't know about the 20/3/64 edition residing at the BFI, Simon (what are the acts in this show?). Thanks. I knew they had the other two. 23/11/64 doesn't feature The Beatles though.

Pretty sure a couple exist from the summer of 64 as well, late June /early July perhaps?
Does anyone know what happened to the spin offs like The 'Millie' show and 'Millie in Jamaica' ? I would think Millie in Jamaica would make great viewing even today?

Right. So there must also be another complete one from late '64 then, featuring Gerry & The Pacemakers. Do you have a tx date for this one?
