The trouble is,we want to buy things we know are the things we want to buy.But otherwise not. If someone says "Look how cheap they are per unit man.A few pence. Now that's cheap." it tells you one thing; the least important. Anyone can buy a thousand vinyl records or U.S. comics or stamps as kiloware unsorted, ungraded for x hundred pounds. If this seller really has good things-and we all hope he has-then here's hoping that there's a way that he can sell them to a good home at a price which makes him happy. I think he's already sold half.Unless the buyer's run out of cash,it might be significant that he didn't return for the rest. Here's a thought: if you knew that radio stations used say Memorex Xsupreme reel-to-reel for broadcasting, wouldn't you say that you were looking for Memorex etc. tapes because they were the best darn tapes to record over? And be very pleased if you were allowed to cherry-pick them?

curious what the guy has that he thinks is worth 2ok I mean, does he have power of the daleks? This is similar to the much talked about private video library which has been way over priced at £20,000 and hence the seller hasnt been able to find a buyer for many years

take a look yourself www.privatevideolibrary.co.uk/while he has a few missing show from Top of the Pops most of the rest are not missing. Cant see anybody buying this lot especially as due to copyright restrictions you wouldn't be able to make any money back by selling these recordings commercially

Well, if he had Season 5 of troughtons, Id be at the negotating table. Since Im not into Top of the Pops and Im not a bootleg tape dealer, it has little interest to me. (also I cant watch pal)

Of course, with every new discovery comes the risk that the value of the collection will depreciate.

I was just checking through that chaps list of stuff on the private video library and noticed some Mike Harding & The Five Penny Piece tapes. The female singer from The Five Penny Piece now works at my local Tesco. I've chatted with her a few times about her singing days!
Does this chap actually have anything in his collection considered missing?

I was looking again at that chaps list of Top Of The Pops recordings and trying to match them up with a list of those held by the BBC seems some may be ones they no longer have.

i still think its a great opportunity for someone who is local to check this out. The price he was asking was nominal. Good luck in your hunt.

Perhaps the stuff about this chap with the large video collection should be opened up as a new thread in the Missing TV section?
