Really enjoyed the panel discussion David, glad to see that the King Midas performence was discussed and it was just as Laurence said earlier , home movie footage cut to the song .Look forward to buying this even more now after watching the discussion and look forward to more releases in the future.

Dear user "thomas walsh", Firstly - think about what you're going to write about. And only then - write. This is typical for most reasonable people. Have no idea, whether you are one of them.

[ I was going to respond to Sergey's long winded and factually inaccurate response but I would rather attend an insurance seminar for six hours than waste my time on that bozo. Yes, everyone has a right to enjoy mono over Stereo BUT ALL of his comments about the sync are wrong because we never touched the speed of the video on ANY of the examples he cited. Neither I, nor the forum does not need actually any explanation about the facts, that I wrote about. Most enjoy your work and buy DVDs, I just expressed my opinion. You have expressed yourself desire to enter into this meaningless discussion.

You have expressed yourself desire to enter into this meaningless discussion. A meaningless discussion which was started by Sergey Ivzhenko on Sept 29, 2011 at 3:27pm. I only based my succinct observation that you were an 'idiot' after 99% of your facts were blown out of the water as idiotic by the wonderful gentleman who puts these exceptional releases together with love, care and an all too rare nowadays..attention to detail. I've thought about this long and hard before posting and............... I stick by my 'factual' post Sergey. Thomas 'user' Walsh.

Dear Sergey, For both our sakes this is the last time I will address you but I want to to point out that when you say that "you should think about what you're going to write about and only then write" you might consider following your own advice. Remember this started because you basically called my work a fake and me unprofessional. I'm not going to defend or criticize Thomas' use of the word "idiot" but I will say that I very appreciate his defending my work along with so many others on this board. The fact remains that you do not like the audio touched in any way shape or form and that is your choice BUT all of your comments about what we did ARE factually inaccurate because you were not in my studio when I made these films. Thomas and anyone else who has defended my work I thank you very much but please let's leave the descriptive words about Sergey or anyone else we disagree with out of the dialogue (I've been guilty of that myself) Thanks, David Peck Ps where can I post about my new Ray Charles concert film from 1961?

has anyone seen the kinks dvd, where are the performances sourced? I'd bet B eat Beat Beat, Beat Club and Totp with Starsruck and Dead End Street being promos, I hope I'm wrong and there are more interesting sources but hey it's long overdue and a start I have received my copy of this just yesterday - it is generally as Nicadare described. Strangely enough the live performances from Beat Room (You Really Got Me) and the live Beat Beat Beat material have all had the audio resynched with the studio versions of all the songs. The Beat Club material (Kinks and the 2 Ray Davies solo tracks) are not in the quality of the ARD Beat Club box set releases but still overall a pretty reasonable compilation. The 2 TOTP clips (Autumn Almanac and WonderBoy) are in as good a quality as I have seen them before but are sourced from European TV archives (the clips were obviously shown in Europe and sourced from the BBC originally - similar to the French origins of Manfred Mann's Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James) Sunny Afternoon, Dead End Street and Starstruck are the usual black & white promos as seen on previous compiles and Apeman is the colour promo (not TOTP) -Sitting in The Midday Sun is the colour promo (quite rare - I cant recall seeing this one before) - and the 80's Dancing tracks are also the original promos rather than TOTP. Days is from Pop Goes The Sixties and Lola from TOTP.

David @reelin'. I would post about your new Ray Charles 1961 concert film here, making a new topic for it. I'm sure you can tell us the source and so forth, etc, always good for us enthusiasts. Alternatively you could make a new topic/post in the 'Out of the Archive' section of the Forum.

Very useful to get a breakdown on this one, Brett. Thanks. It might be a good idea though to re-post this under a Kinks DVD thread. Just so we can keep this one focussed on The Hollies.

A meaningless discussion which was started by Sergey Ivzhenko on Sept 29, 2011 at 3:27pm. It was a personal opinion and expressing it by Sergey. He did not expect any debate at all. I am much surprised, when Mr. Peck so bothered with the post that someone Sergey (who is he?) on the Internet. I only based my succinct observation that you were an 'idiot' after 99% of your facts were blown out of the water as idiotic by the wonderful gentleman who puts these exceptional releases together with love, care and an all too rare nowadays..attention to detail. This gentleman calling the debate did not bother to explain these clear as day shortcomings of his work, limiting the general words. However, I do not feel the need nor in his response, nor in his DVDs. Note, that before when Mr. Peck appeared here, was not a single word about my opinion. But after his appearance began to wade into "idiot-Sergey" and praise to Mr. Peck. Here obviously have been so pleased to Mr. Peck, that some users just got into the insult Sergey, for which he has no opinion is like everyone else. I understand, that the presence of the user "reelinintheyears" is worth of presences 100 users such as "Sergey Ivzhenko", so you may well have to ban me and to give more space for Mr. Peck's triumph. End.

Sergey, it's very rare to ban people from the forum (and I personally believe in freedom of expression IF expressed politely). This one has run it's course now though so why not just go back to the subject of the thread itself (The Hollies DVD) and drop the tit for tat personal stuff? We're here to talk about rare TV, after all. Anybody here is a valued contributor so you shouldn't feel there's favouritism - if there was, your earlier posts with their confrontational tone would have been deleted by now. You've been given the benefit of the doubt as English is obviously not your first language and so maybe some misunderstanding has ocurred. Let's leave it there, ok?

I'm just curious to know one thing, David (I mentioned it earlier in the thread but it probably got overlooked with the direction the discussion took). Can you enlighten us as to the format for the Hollies DVD set? Is the set region 1 or 0 as released in the UK? Also, is the material on it native PAL that's been directly encoded to region 1 / 0 or have the PAL masters been converted first to NTSC? Just interested to know.
