It's a very good programme but I doubt we'll ever see it unedited (one of the main missing chunks is several songs from The Beatles at Shea Stadium film, which is probably too expensive to screen, thanks to Apple!) The studio performances are the main thing though, which are all top notch, A pity they didn't see fit to keep more TOTP from this period in the same way.

This was not on my Virgin platform of Yesterday; we got the Braden sex drugs and rock and roll instead.

Do we know if it was ZDF that kept it or the Beeb Laurence?

I'd hazard a guess that it was ZDF, the only sign of any performaces being used on "special" TOTP's was the Marmalade on the 10th Aniversary Show, and as this was a performance saved from Xmas Day 69 could *possibly* have still been kicking around the Beeb as an insert....

Just watched it this afternoon, and was amazed at the quality of the picture. None of that colour bleeding/banding you associate with early colour VTR. I presume it was shot on video rather than film, and if so why is the PQ so good?

No idea, i'm afraid, although it seems more likely that it was actually ZDF that kept it, knowing the BBC's track record of keeping pop TV from this time!

Having just watched this iam appalled that they show such a bad edited copy. The hollies he aint heavy had lots of tape slips in it and where was the stones? I have a friend who has a complete original copy on dvd so i will watch this intead. We were let down badly by vintage tv but this is sad to show a badly edited version.

Yes Alan the stones gimme shelter. Beatles at shea stadium, The tremeloes, the batchelors, kenny ball, dusty springfield and lulu.Quite alot missing. It was originally a 75 minute show but they edited it 45 mins!

Well, as I said before, we shouldn't be surprised it was edited (it always is whenever it's screened). We're never likely to get a full repeat bearing in mind that there's several Beatles tracks in there amongst other things. Pretty poor show that we never get to see it as it should be but predictable all the same!

Yes Laurence i quite agree but they have shown it before with all artists apart from Beatles in havent they.On bbc four i think. Iam sure you will agree this editing nonsense is stupid.Like a recent box set of fools and horses i got.the single dvds arent edited yet in the comlete box set some of these episodes are it getting crazy. I suppose its Beatles and Stones being greedy over copyright like editing stones brown sugar from xmas top of the pops 71!
