Just watched the excellent programme on Bob Monkhouse and his private collection. Worth catching on BBCi if you haven't seen it. Obvious question which Chris Perry may have some answers, what music performances have been preserved from the variety shows that Bob recorded?

Chris Perry is far too modest to mention it, but he gave an excellent account of himself, Kal and the Bob Monkhouse archive on Alex Dyke's BBC Radio Solent show yesterday. The interview can be heard in full here (approximately 1:45 into the programmme): www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00cv3v1/Alex_Dyke_07_01_2011/

Thanks for the link, Peter. Interesting feature to listen to. The programme also contains an interview with Brian Hugg (brother of Mike), talking about Manfred Mann plus an ex-BBC technician who claims to have some missing Pan's People / TOTP material on 2"! Did you manage to grab his contact details, Chris?!?

Obvious question which Chris Perry may have some answers, what music performances have been preserved from the variety shows that Bob recorded? The following info from the Tony Rees pop diaries is of use sal; no idea what survives though. Re the music collector on Radio Solent mentioned above, I've talked to Phil who has the TOTP on 2". It's mainly late 1970s he tells me, so may already exist. He'll send me a DVD to check the contents and if anything is missing, then he is happy to return it on digibeta.

2003 is now a long time ago in net years, the IMDB was virtually empty , the Muasolillim Club had just started, stuff like that.
Just whimsical speculation here, but if Bob had lived and got use to being online I reckon he would have loved places like this?
probably had his own web pages on old time stars etc and would have enjoyed being asked this and that about TV?
