Great to see the Kinks in their pink hunting jackets! and the Hollies and Sandie Shaw. Just seen it once and trying to work out who the presenter is.

Think I saw a brief snippet of Steve Winwood / Spencer Davis Group too. Possibly these are not all from the same show though.

Will have to marry that with Hollies and Sandie Shaw appearances.

A very fascinating window something that has gone. Could these film clips be from more than one episode though, as Laurence says? Film being expensive and all that, it might have been shot from different shows and compiled later.

I think that's possible. To the extent of likely! If anyone has more time than I and can ascertain who shows up in the footage and when (time breakdown), PLEASE DO.
I will try and look for more footage when I have time. (I do this at work!!!!)

It looks like two separate Kinks appearances (the first an early one) as the positioning of the members and dress changes. Also, there's another act I didn't recognise that were using a twin-necked guitar. Anyone have ideas on who they are?

I only see one Kinks clip, not two. Sandie Shaw wuld be the easiest to work out the song through lip-reading, I guess!

You may be right. I was thinking that first clip (band unidentified) was also The Kinks as it looked like Pete Quaife in the foreground. It's so brief that it's hard to make out exactly who it is!

It looks like 19 November 1965 features heavily. At 52 secs into the film is Miss World, from the Lyceum Ballroom, London (19/11/1965). The Kinks, The Who, The Searchers and Gerry and the Pacemakers appeared on the RSG episode that day, amongst others.

a lovely bit of home movie. Loved the old cars but especially the effects on the film of damp (?), great psychedelic effects! Oh, and some of the RSG was good, too! LOL.

Nice clip and fascinating to see. I love the way you can see that classic banded electrical interference on the picture that VHF transmissions tend to suffer from. Hair dryer, motorbike, bloke next door drillling, who knows?

If not this must've been about it's last appearance, but I'm fairly certain they stopped wearing them after summer '65. (as mentioned in Doug Hinman's book and supported by surviving visuals). For instance the Beat Beat Beat performance from Dec 1965 has them in more casual wear.

The Kinks, The Who, The Searchers and Gerry and the Pacemakers appeared on the RSG episode that day, amongst others. It's probably from 14 May 1965. www.imdb.com/title/tt1429820/lists the guests as The Kinks, Sandie Shaw, Spencer Davis Group, and the Dave Clark 5 (which I didn't see on the film clip). On the tv.com episode guide for this show I added some song titles: 14 May 1965 --The Kinks - "Set Me Free" and "Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight." --Sandie Shaw - "Long Live Love." --The Spencer Davis Group - possibly "Strong Love." --Scheduled to appear: The Dave Clark Five - "Come Home." I added the words "scheduled to appear" as the DC5 aren't on the clip, but they might have appeared. www.tv.com/ready-steady-go%21/episode/310407/summary.html?tag=ep_guide;summary The Kinks songs are from the "All Day and All of the Night" book and other guests' songs from May 1965 music charts/dicsographies. I'm no lip reader, but on the Sandie Shaw clip, she pauses for a second then it appears that she sings the words "Long live love."
