There's been a lot of work done on this since my original post, and RPM is turning out to be a fascinating study. Not exactly "missing episodes" because it's all archived as far as I can tell, and we have turned up a fairly complete catalogue of what was on it (PM me if interested in seeing that), but for anyone interested in the music of the period it's well worth knowing about. There's also a wonderful set of recollections by Andy Batten-Foster which you can find at webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qVWK1dXqwNoJ:www.bristolarchiverecords.com/people/people_Andy_Batten_Foster.html+batten+foster+oxford&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google.co.uk(you may need to paste that into the browser, for some reason the clickable part of the URL seems to have been truncated, or else just google Batten Foster RPM) Gives a very good flavour for the show. Of course it'd be great to be able to view some of the material instead of just dribbling over the listing, but such is the lot of the music fan.

i remember an interview where prefab sprout were slagging off bruce springsteen. they'd just released 'cars and girls'. i think at the same time they were peeved about not being able to break america, and somebody slyly remarked that perhaps they'd have a better chance if they didn't slag off US legends. perhaps more than one appearance in my memory and not a lot of help to anyone. however, i'd like to see that again just to remind myself how pretentiously talentless they were...

They always spoke very highly of you Rob.
But if you're quite finished having an unnecessary crack at people who after all sold a lot more records than you and who are deeply respected in the music industry, is anyone interested in the RPM listing and material?

Unbelievable Ray! I've just been along to Andy Batten-Foster's piece at that Britsol website and looked at the list list of articles by other people. The last piece in the list is written by a mate of mine (Reuben Archer)!! It's a small world............
