Try the official Beat Club box sets! They're all out on DVD and looking very nice too.

No, these two performances are never shown in Beat Club and are still unreleased . So never shown on TV or on DVD.

A few months ago, in December 2008, I heard from a collector in Austria who has worked for a youth/pop/rock programme at austrian television ORF during the 70's (since 1968, ORF also did screenings of "Beat-Club" in their country). He claimed that he owned a full copy of the coloured 1967 show on Ampex videotape, which he borrowed from Radio Bremen during a research for a tv programme on ORF in the late seventies about the 60's music and culture alongside with other original Beat-Club shows of which he also claimed to have dubs from. Whether his story was true or not, I don't know, but I immediately contacted Radio Bremen and producer Joerg Sonntag and gave him the e-mail adress of this guy, who also claimed he did contact Mike Leckebusch shortly before his death in the year 2000 about the show. Since then, I haven't heard of Joerg Sonntag about this subject, but maybe if we are lucky, a digital remastered version of this show will be airing one day as part of "Vinyl - Rock & Popgeschichten" on Radio Bremen TV and on Eins Festival in brilliant, glorious colour. Regards, Oliver. (a.k.a."fascher") P.S. Welcome to the forum Frank, nice to see you "Beat Freak" ! This clip must be from the same source.

Fantastic! I had the colour performance of Manfred Mann on this episode (performing 'So Long Dad') on VHS back in the late 80s, but accidentally junked it when transferring my collection to digital some years ago.

Wow! I have the Beat Club dvd set so to see this in colour is fabulous. 'Green Circles' is a great track. Also check out the version by Twice As Much, another group from the Immediate records inner (green) circle... Audio here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVmA9b4HmE4

The question that still remains is, what happened to that original colour master tape? Has it been found yet? And does it still exist in complete form? Over the years, some different clips seemed to have come to light, there was also a short clip of Cat Stevens' performance from this show in colour uploaded on YouTube years ago, so if someone of you had the Manfred Mann song in colour, that means that at least four songs still seem to exist somewhere in one form or another!

I have pp arnold in colour from this edition somewhere. I think the whole colour show crept out on the collectors market about 15 years ago. Whether its in private hands who knows but I suspect its not in radio bremans

it would be an interesting project to re-create the whole show from these clips! maybe this way a re-release in colour for DVD could be made!

I believe the person in Austria who contacted you in 2008 may be telling the truth about the Ampex tape. I got sent the Small Faces footage on DVD, it must be around the same time and I'm sure if memory serves me correctly it was from a person in Austria who found me on an old Yahoo Small Faces group. As Bob mentions there is also colour footage of PP Arnold. I, no longer have the persons details or remember his name but I did ask him if he had the whole show in Colour and he told me no. I assume if he did have the whole show, he didn't want me to know.
If someone has seen the whole show in colour, this may have been the source.

Interesting story, his name by the way was Helmut Polkorab and he also offered me a sample DVD with clips from his collection back in Febuary 2010, but we've lost contact after that and he never re-apeared again or wrote back to me, so I still don't know if he ever owned the whole show and I never got this DVD. Although he said that he once lend the tape directly from Radio Bremen through Mike Leckebusch the show's original director/inventor during the 70s when he himself was working for the austrian broadcasting corporation ORF as a freelancing producer on a series about youth culture in the 60s. He also said, that he did copies from this and other original Beat-Club tapes he got the same way back then for his personal collection. Does anybody know his whereabouts or how to connect him now?

I have his e-mail, we are communicated last year, he has health problems, so I do not bother him asking for colour Beat Club. When I asked previously, he even didn't commented this subject at all.
