I do know that material that came back directly due to the treasure hunt was very small, but there was a wider picture I was thinking of when I posted this idea. There has indeed been a lot of missing material found in recent yeras, there was aposting on this forum with a vast list of material that had surfaced since 1999???, I believe was the year, correct me if I am wrong. Despite the fact that the Hunt was widely publisized, it didn't stop DMP2 Turning up well afterward, nor several episodes of Scott on or episodes of At Last the 1948 show, or indeed the Out of the Unknown episode. Basically if appeals like treasure hunt were continued it would at the very least keep the idea of missing material in the front line, and maybe, just maybe it may produce more missing material to come back.
Best Wishes All.
Steve

the bbc should do this regularly after repeats of old shows just a quick 1 or 2 minute thing showing 16mm/35mm and early home video "do you have anything like this, did you own an early home video" et.c, after the last treasure hunt I spoke to a number of film collectors who didn't know about the hunt or even that there were missing episodes, one even said that he did get TR occasionly but couldn't sell it because it wasn't sought after. people didn't like the poor quality of the picture. and before you ask I am still in contact these collectors but nothing has turned up yet. even now it seems to me that the total number of people in the know about missing episodes especialy film and video collectors can be counted on the finger of one finger.
