Ebay lists lots of old TV but doesn't rate their archival status, people come here to find out what's valuable and what's not. I suspect someone saw the word Tommy Cooper and thought 'big money' if I can sell his missing sketches. Sadly Tommy sits in Canal+ hell where nothing is ever released because the TV rights are not cleared. c eBay and LostShows.com, will pretty much do the trick, if this forum didn't exist... As for Canal+, keeping material we'd all like to see, locked away... it's nothing new... as most of the material rediscovered, hardly ever ends up being released...

Or rescued poorly, such as shows found on cv2000.

If anyone is interested, the Dutch tv archive (in addition to the footage of Tommy dying on stage) has a normal show from 1984 and two compilations made in 1990. But those may not contain any missing material. It also seems he may have appeared in one Dutch show in person, on the "Willem Ruis Lotto Show", aired 16-7-1982. Thought I should mention it.

It will amuse you all to know that the Life with Cooper ep that sold for £516 was never paid for and was resold on ebay for £52 last week.
Without the publicity generated from this website that's quite a reduction in cost. Clearly some people do come here to lurk and see what is rare to buy.
We had checked the script library in the meantime and it wasn't a missing show, so we stopped bidding at £51.
Hope that helps.

Glad to see this finally resolved. Is there an easy way to contact Kaleidoscope directly, to save publicity in future?

I remember a Tommy Cooper episode where he drives into a car wash in a mini when he comes out the other side he has the mini under his arm ,it had shrunk in the carwash, just like that!

And to finally put this deal to bed.
The guy who bought the Life with Cooper film print for £52 also never paid, so I bought it from John, the seller, yesterday.
It's not a missing episode but it is a nice piece of comedy.
