It wasn't mentioned in the Victor Lewis-Smith one, but as that was more of an exercise for Victor's monumental ego than a proper look at the Simon Dee story, that's hardly suprising!

why do you think dee time was so thouroughly erased? it seems to have fared extreemly badly for such a popular show, I can't beleive that there arn't some "borowed "copies extant in the wild. Wasn't it just a case of it going out live and no-one thinking to record any, except for the 2, and some "noteworthy" interviewees?

As far as I can make out, a whole bunch of brief inserts for a "best of" episode also survive, along with a couple of hours worth of complete interviews and musical numbers. Nothing too stunning on the latter, unfortunately. Apart from Clodagh Rodgers, who is rather diverting!

I'm quite surprised they didn't keep the live special they did from Montreux in 1968 - although perhaps I shouldn't be!

On the subject of missing "Dee Time", during the new edition which Channel 4 put out over Christmas, Simon Dee mentioned to guest Peter Wyngarde that he still had a contact sheet of photos from their original meeting in the 60s - suggesting that Dee has a number of John Cura telesnaps of his lost shows.

there were also a large number of stills taken on set, some of these were used to form the photo montage for the titles.

Dezo Hoffman also took a load of photos for the 1968 'Simon Dee Book', many of them in colour, and they look really nice.
The book is also, unfortunately, a tragic reminder of how much really good stuff is lost. I wonder what it was about AJP Taylor's appearance that proved such a hit?
