Don't get me started - I could bore for England on the subject! Oh, go on! Get started, Kieran! I'd probably agree with you anyway! This forum desperately needs some decent discussions to get going again!

Yes. If it's about current lack of quality in television then I would as well. No one seems able to even hold together a sensible discussion here any more. It's all handles and trivial one liners now. Bit like whats on the box itself I s'pose

I'm afraid you've fallen into the classic elitist trap - assuming that any household that watches BBC-4 couldn't possibly contain anyone who likes programming such as Footballers' Wives. Sadly, in the real world you'll find millions of households containing people with massively contrasting viewing tastes. My wife, for example, likes a bit of Footballers' Wives, while I'd rather tear out my own fingernails than watch it... and conversely, I like a lot of the documentaries on BBC-4, while my wife would prefer to watch paint dry. I watch documentaries on BBC4 and I also enjoy Footballers' Wives. Am I a freak? On second thoughts, don't answer that. I have also lost count of the number of times that a late night repeat has been a godsend.

It costs about £12.50 an hour to view a VHS copy, more if it's on film.

I have also lost count of the number of times that a late night repeat has been a godsend. OK, OK - I admit I was being unduly provocative there, but there again, people complain about the lack of lively debate. I thought this wasn't a bad one, considering that according to a previous correspondent only nutters come to this site anyway. Message to BBC4: Therese Racquin, starring Kate Nelligan at the very pinnacle of her beauty, must be worth a repeat....but some brownie points for showing A Very Peculiar Practice
