Am loving your work, Garrett.
What with the Christmas Season being upon as any chance you can do us the controversial final scene from The Feast of Steven?
Keep up the great work.

Thanks all. Hey Dave - Chris Perry actually wanted me to animate the final scene of The Feast of Steven for the 19 minute programme screened by Kaleidoscope on the 6th .... It's a harder scene to animate than one might think, though, for such a silly scene. At that time I hadn't done the side view of Hartnell, any view of Steven, or Sara Kingdom, all of which I needed. I wound up doing the new views of Hartnell and Steven, and decided to tackle the Massacre instead, an acknowledged classic, rather than try and do a front view for Hartnell AND a view of Sara Kingdom plus non-moving side and back views of all concerned, drinking props, etc etc ....
I actually did include a small recon of the scene as part of the programme though. Based on the Loose Cannon one.

I will attempt to be at the Gallifrey Los Angeles convention on saturday. Attending that convention will be, among others, Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant. I felt that I should do something in their honor. This is a new finished color image of Zoe (Wendy Padbury) - version 3, for those keeping count. Reference was from The Wheel in Space. I drew the line art a while back, and just tonight reworked it in Photoshop. Here she is with a body taken from Zoe version 2. A 3d version of her Wheel in Space costume also exists, but I went with this photo-derived body. And here is the reason I did it - a poster featuring Frazer Hines as Jamie and Wendy Padbury as Zoe. You can print this poster out and have it signed at this year's Gallifrey. It reproduces great even at huge poster sizes, and any Kinko's should do a good job of printing it. (Big ZIP link below for printable version) If you do intend to print this poster out, please consider donating $5 or $10 in appreciation to my Paypal account ... tygerbug at yahoo.com. This poster features Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. I'm afraid I didn't have time to do an actual drawing of Peri, so Nicola is here represented by a mostly-drawn body with just a reworked photo for a face. Perhaps sometime I'll finish it. This drawing of Colin Baker has been done in color for some time, but when I did his body way back I did the line art at a pretty small size. Reworking the artwork to look halfway decent at a large size took some effort. Again, this will look great printed out even huge, and might be just the thing to have signed at this year's Gallifrey con. Inside this 13.3 Meg ZIP file you'll find both posters. rapidshare.com/files/197332213/gallifreyposters09.zip(2nd version - Zoe had big hair before. Fixed that.) Inside this 8.4 MB zip file you'll find the new Zoe images. (With big hair still.) rapidshare.com/files/197332774/zoethreecolor.zip

The Ice Warriors .... animated .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDx6ilVvCWw A little lip-sync test of a scene from episode 2 between Leader Clent and The Doctor. Not a finished product! The characters appear on a temporary background of someone's house, and do not move. This is just a rough test to show the lip sync. I had done a huge amount of work on The Ice Warriors characters before putting it back into the box a few months back - I wanted to show off Leader Clent at least - a very complex sprite. More of my work on The Ice Warriors .... orangecow.org/who-sprites2/1guide/icewarriors.html

Heya Tygerbug!! Looks great! Just watched the clip on youtube; by far the best yet. The animation on the lips looks very life like, far better than some other stuff ive seen. Im glad you didnt listen to a certain loud mouthed, ranting, know nothing from another forum! Nice work and looking forward to seeing more

Thanks Greg. The Clent sprite has a huge range of expression built into him, so it was a joy to do. This clip took a day to do, though of course it's not finished as far as bodies and background go.

None too shabby for a days work mate!! i presume that was just the animating rather than the drawing as well? Either way about keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing more! Got any plans for what to animate in the coming year? or is that currently secret

The drawing/coloring takes about a week per character.
The animation would take another day or three if finished with movement.
We'll see .... this is no longer a full time thing for me. I was going to do Ice Warriors very heavily, but the official folk said they'll never look at anything I do, and I assume they're doing that story themselves as well.

The drawing/coloring takes about a week per character. The animation would take another day or three if finished with movement. Movement is probably what takes up the most time to complete. When two people are having a calm conversation like we see in this scene, does there have to be a lot of extra movement when it is not necessary? You might want to change a few other pictures of Clent and the Doctor for some variety, but this version still gets the point across and it would save some time on the work. There was a scene where the Doctor and Jamie were arguing with Khrisong in episode 3 of The Abominable Snowmen. Khrisong was preventing them from going outside the monastery and it sounds like the Doctor and Jamie were extremely frustrated with him. A scene like that would probably require some animation to show the emotions the Doctor and Jamie were feeling.

Jamie and Victoria bodies from "Fury From the Deep." I colored this old black and white Jamie body from "The Web of Fear", then redrew it as a body for "Fury From the Deep." A quickie for Victoria - didn't put any effort into this, I needed her sitting down for one shot. I just left an old CGI body pretty much as is. NEW VIDEO! Fury from the Deep - Goodbye Victoria - Rough Test www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p5LQcuKpqI&feature=channel_pageAnother rough video where the characters don't move, and are slapped onto temp backgrounds. This is again just to show lip sync rather than full animation. This piece definitely needs proper animation, to show Jamie walking in/out and the awkward physicality of the scene, and I believe the two hug. This version of Victoria has a huge amount of expression available in the mouths, but I don't think it's a good representation of Victoria for this scene .... it looks a little sterile and generic to me, the photo background not helping matters. It would be interesting to draw a new Victoria, and see if the mouths from this version could fit on it. Oh well. Here we are, saying goodbye to Victoria in Fury from the Deep.

William Hartnell, number thirteen, colored. Reference here was from The War Machines, and, for his hair primarily, The Daleks' Master Plan [Blue Peter clip].

Patrick Troughton - number fifteen. The hair and costume reference at least was from Tomb of the Cybermen. The original drawing to this wasn't my favorite, but I'm glad I stuck with it, as he made a fine Sprite in the end.

Polly, played by Anneke Wills. Number 12. Colored. More glamorous than usual - entirely due to the reference photo I chose (thanks to Nod). If I finish animating this Polly with alternate heads, perhaps I can de-glam her a bit. Hair reference is from The Macra Terror telesnaps. I drew her with short hair, so that longer hair can be put over her when needed. I am working on a long-haired Power of the Daleks version of this Polly as well.
