I'm aware of that Laurence, it's just in the unlikely event they kept any copies or outtakes - stranger things have happened!

They didn't appear on TYLS. The promos were screened on the show.

Circulated for years maybe, but not in the kind of circles us mere mortals tend to revolve in

With the imminent release of their promo films does it appear that maybe apple don't have a copy of this as surely it would have been on this superb bluray set?

With the imminent release of their promo films does it appear that maybe apple don't have a copy of this as surely it would have been on this superb bluray set? Well, the 1966 TOTP clips were reportedly rejected by Apple for Anthology cause they were too bad quality. Whether or not Apple has kept copies since the mid 90s I dunno, but if they had done they would most likely have ommited them again for the same reasons. There already have 2 high quality promo videos for Paperback Writer on the DVD, the TOTP clip if they do have it wouldn't be showing the Blu ray format in the best light. I get the impression that the rumoured 2009 upgrade that it's claimed some fans have isn't close to broadcast quality either.

It's nearly exactly 50 years since The Beatles appeared live in the Top Of The Pops studio for the first and only time. The episode, officially wiped by the BBC in 1971, apparently still exists somewhere in the archives of a very lucky & discreet private collector.
I wonder if said collector will choose to celebrate its 50th Anniversary on 16th June and post it on youtube or similar.
