I would like to ask Chris Perry a couple of questions about the transfer to digibeta of these 2 tapes.
1. Which facility carried out the transfer?
2. Was the conversion from 405 lines to 625 lines done electronically?
3. If electronic standards conversion was done was this on a standards converter or using the BBC method of stabilising 405 lines on a 625 line raster (with a time base corrector) and then expanding to fill the full 625 lines using an aspect ratio converter.
Regards

These programmes are exactly the kind of thing i'd like to see released on DVD. Such things are usually considered niche interest but surely they would at least work well as extras on an ABC-oriented series release? The kind of programming that is overlooked in the glut of TV releases now available though (and historically of some importance).

I know that GNG did the David Hamilton conversion on 30/5/08, according to the vt clock shown at Kal.
The same company did the Midlands version a few weeks earlier.
Being a Kal commission, you can be sure it was all done professionally and with Canal Plus approval.
I must say that I am impressed by the sensible postings on this thread - nobody panicking, or hurling negative comments.
If only all recoveries went this smoothly and politely!

It was great to see the little snippet of Janice Nicholls on Big Night Out celebrating her wedding.
The clip of Kenneth Williams on the Eamonn Andrews show was great. An otherwise missing clip I presume?
The fact that the Oh Boy! clips come from the two surviving episodes suggest that even back then most of it had been wiped.
The fact that Wham and Boy Meets Girls were mentioned but no clip shown suggest that they were wiped by 68 too.
If you did not see it, get to the next Kal event and don't forget to swell the RNLI coffers!
