Wonder if anyone can shed light on the following. (I did email Queenonline about four years just after the release of the DVD Greatest Video Hits Vol.2 to see if there was a possibility in obtaining this for a possible release as an extra for a future GVH3 to no avail.)
Anyway back in 1999 I think it was, some of you may recall Steve Wright fronting two excellant series' of a BBC Radio Two programme called Top Of The Pops on 2 which changed it's name mid series to Top Of The Pops 2 on 2.
It was a half hour show and the basic theme of the programme was to play the top 3 or 5 (I forget) from a particular year, interview a crowd member with they're memories & also a DJ, pop star, celeb etc with their thoughts on shows gone by.
I recorded all of these shows apart from two. On one particular show which I have on cassette, Dave Lee Travis was interviewed giving his thoughts & recollections. I have just listened to DLT's interview again and during this he says, quote, "I have to say that Seven Seas Of Rhye by Queen, I must hold the record of being the only Disc Jockey in the world to have gone up on stage with Queen wearing a brown duster coat and carrying a broom and sweeping the stage while they were performing it and that was a great moment on Top of the Pops and I have got that on video somewhere and it was really quite funny"
As we know he doesn't appear on either of the two home recordings which exist of SSOR on TOTP. I wonder if he means Killer Queen or Now I'm Here.
This appearance is not to be confused with the one he did with Mud for Tiger Feet.
Can anyone confirm this appearance of Queen & DLT on TOTP together?
Here's hoping there's light at the end of this tunnel
HT.
