Well the Dutch Wikipedia says it was broadcast there in 1975 and 1976 and also in the 80s (Baker and Davison). German wikipedia says it started in 1989. Italy since 1980. Wiki France doesn't say anything about it being broadcast in France, wiki Spain doesn't say seem to say anything but I am not fluent in Spanish so don't take this for granted. Likewise for Scandinavia and Portugal. B.t.w., most articles do have a section on episodes being missing. OK, so no evidence of anything before Tom Baker. But it's only wikipedia. There could have been earlier episodes not mentioned here.

I don't ever remember seeing a black & white version of any part of "Planet of the Daleks" or "Invasion of the Dinosaurs." I am surprised to see them on the list. I seem to recall my local PBS stations in New Hampshire & Massachusetts showed the entire stories in color even as late as 1988-89. I do remember B&W versions of "Ambassadors of Death" and "Mind of Evil."

If I recall correctly, both these stories were trimmed of their b/w episodes for US broadcast, effectively turning them into five part serials. I think 'Planet' was further edited to make the loss of part 3 less obvious.

I don't ever remember seeing a black & white version of any part of "Planet of the Daleks" or "Invasion of the Dinosaurs." That's because the black & white episodes in question were not broadcast - unlike the rest of each serial. I'm surprised you didn't pick up portions of these stories being missing when watching...

Actually, that's not quite true. I can't speak for other cities in the US, but WGBH in Boston ran Planet of the Daleks Part 3 in B&W. However, they didn't run part 6 - which was rather annoying (They claimed they were told it was a 5 part story, so perhaps they were supposed to get 1,2,4,5,6 not 1,2,3,4,5 - who knows). New Hampshire Public Television ran the omnibus version which was missing episode three and parts of episodes 2 & 4 - but had episode 6. Neither station ran Ep 1 of "Invasion of the Dinosaurs".

StevenS, you are probably correct. It's been many years since I watched them so my memory is probably cloudy.
