Don't be such a skeptic ! I agree that chances of a recovery are slim to none. But that is not to say that people can't ask questions or state crazy ideas they had hanging about in thier heads.

Great idea Lance. I have e-mailed the BBC and I am expecting an enthusiastic reply. It won't be long before the episodes come rolling back. Your name may well stand with Ian Levine as a true Whovian.

Does anyone believe that they exist somewhere in NZ, the prints exist in private hands? How do you go about checking that theory, just start calling all the employees who would of worked in that department ? I think not, that would cost a fortune in phone charges, and would be quite rude too. Lance. "who would have worked"... Well, I do have in my possession a list of all the staff who worked at the NZBC's head office during the early 1970s. I'm slowly working my way through it and filtering out those who are likely to still be alive (their year of birth is noted) with a mind to contacting them at some point, but there are literally hundreds of people there... Something else, I have always wondered is just what other material ex BBC employees may have or may have been given. For instance George Gallacio got given all those telesnaps that nobody wanted. Now this only came to light because of his connection with Doctor Who hence he was interviewed and mentioned what he had. Thus how many people not related to Who could have material - not stolen but given to them. An interesting thought.

Quote************************ Don't you think that it would look kind of obvious, a chap walking out of a room with a large circular bulge under his jacket ? I mean, you would think that someone would notice that sort of thing. Unquote********************** Well, if the reputable organistion I work for is anything to go by, and it is , staff regularly 'wander off' with much larger items than film reels! Also, security staff in my experience often dont really care that much. Its quite difficult to find a conscientious worker who is always at their post, and in an under funded film archive, well who knows, maybe a security gaurd would be more interested in drinking tea and listening to the radio, or just couldnt care less about someone they knew wandering off with a thing or two....? I have seen co workers and security guards behaving like this at a number of places ive worked over the years. Im sure its pretty similar all over the place!
