I have found this site on the Film Archives of Zambia, here is the link: Did you notice this bit Lance? "Almost all fiction shown on local television are foreign productions. As a result, they are never deposited in the National Archives." Richard Just like Sean Connery said he'd never play Bond again before "Never Say Never Again". Right, Richard? Or like Roger Waters said he wouldn't reunite with Pink Floyd before Live 8? Bill Clinton said he never had sex with that woman? Trust me, just because someone says nothing will happen or has happened doesn't exactly mean that it didn't or won't happen.

So, you think it *would* be a worthwhile venture searching a National Archive who very clearly state that they do not deposit overseas drama programming in their facility? Off you go then... Richard

I think Wright Blan has all of Fury From The Deep in his attic.
Just because he says he doesn't, doesn't mean that he doesn't.
That's the right logic for this thread, isn't it?

Richard Richard, just because someone says something didn't happen doesn't mean that it didn't happen in the past, whether accidently or on purpose. More likely on accident. Things get misplaced or mislabeled all the time. A real life example: The office our beloved former First Lady denied having papers concerning the Whitewater mess. Several months later, the papers in question magically appeared.

I could invite you to look in my attic, but I'm not going to pay for the airline ticket. My point: Government employees are paid to spread standard operational bull. Not necessarily to be of any help to interested customers or information seekers.

Now It Can Be Told! Massive conspiracy by Zambian government to cover up presence of episodes of old kids show in National Archive! Deliberate lies posted on website shattered by brilliant American mind!
A spokesman for the Zambian government, in an official statement to the press, claimed "And we would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids!"

And for the record: I don't think Zambia is deliberately holding back missing episodes. However, I do think that a)They probably don't even know what's in their own archives, and b) Probably don't even care what's in their archives (Unless there's something in it for them). And no, I'm not looking down on Zambians. Looking down on government workers, yes. But not on Zambians.

What ? Like they have not bothered to set up a Website describing their archive holdings ? That they do not make mention that their archive is very small and give examples of the different types of material held in it ? That they do not specifically mention that they do not hold any drama ?
I think Zambia has given alot more information on what they do hold then many other countries. They also seem to have defined processes for archiving and that Website demonstrated that they have got a good grasp on their archive.

Will try sending him an e-mail also.
He may think people will make money from Dr Who episodes, so better reassure them they won't - or he may just not have any!??
Worth a shot!

But remember: the Beeb apparently didn't even know about the missing Power of the Daleks clip that was in their own system! . "Missing" stuff turns up even in the most susposedly well-cataloged places.

A half recorded trailer that wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place is rather different from whole, complete programmes which would be catalogued.
