Hello Again,
I looked at the Wish You Were Here album cover, and it was dedicated to Syd Barrett. That is quite interresting. And, I love "Wish You Were Here" and "Dark Side of the Moon". This question is rather off topic, but I was wondering if Pink Floyd is still big in the UK ?

However they did just briefly reform (even including Roger Waters - never thought I'd see that) to perform brilliantly at the recent Live 8 concert, after which sales of their material went up by 1000% or something silly.

Roger Barrett is also the real name of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's famous 'lost' singer/songwriter - wouldn't surprise me if the hoaxer had adopted this name due to the parallel's between Syd & the Dr Who episode in question both being 'missing,' whilst also being cult figures.

Wasn't Roger Barrett the name of the original Pink Floyd singer who went nuts? Or as he was more commonly know Syd. Anyway having already strayed away from the initial subject, can anyone tell me out of curiosity when and where The Ice Warriors was recovered? I know the stories about the others.

Yeah, That is right, however if you read the rest of the thread you will see that it has been throughly explained and discussed. About the film prints from the Ice Warriors, while the BBC was moving to a new head office a storage coubard was moved and behind it were some old film prints. The BBC labels on the films stated that they were episode 2,4,5, and six of the Ice warriors ( the can said episode two but when examined actually contained episode one ). There was also a film can for Fury From the Deep episode six, sadly this can was empty. Was it borrowed, junked, eaten by mice, no one really knows. These were located in 1998, and were cleaned and released on the beautiful Ice Warriors VHS, with the audio CD of the missing two episodes. Any more questions?

These episodes were discovered in 19 88. I remember reading about it in DWM at the time - this was the first time I became aware of the missing episodes situation. I think I still have that issue lying around somewhere too...

Look at the outpost gallifrey eoisode listing for Ice Warriors. It states 1998. Lance. That's a typo. The episodes were definitely found in 1988. I've e-mailed Shaun about it a couple of times (mis-information is a bad thing), but I assume he didn't see my e-mails as I gather her receives rather a lot.

Yep 1988 i remember it well .. back then id been hunting down various lost Radio Tv for only 5 years or so and to find somany epps in one go was very very welcome. I seem to remember we all scoffed at the idea of it being discoverd (rumors had escaped before the offical annoucment in DWM and i think Dreamwatch) Back then we were all writing Very well written letters (not whiny fanboy stuff) to the middle east, canada etc etc.. got some interesting letters back at the time.. mostly they said "we got rid of 99% of our 16mm 10 years ago (late70's))

I seem to remember we all scoffed at the idea of it being discoverd (rumors had escaped before the offical annoucment in DWM and i think Dreamwatch) To be more precise, in Dreamwatch's predecessor, DWB. I remember it very well. Last "big" episode find before "Tomb", if I recall correctly.

Yes, DWB #99 was the one that broke the news. Nice big pic of the Cyber logo on the cover. First DWB I bought, that one, and it was the first I'd ever heard of the missing episodes "Tomb returned...? I didn't even know it was missing!"
