Yep. None apparently...
The story goes... neither the estate of Terry Nation (the guy who made 'em up) whose agents would like to see any representation of the daleks remain faithful to their original appearance nor the BBC (who, it seems, would like to update their look and bring them into the 21st century) can come to any agreement.
Oh well... whatever...

Oh well... whatever... Is...the wrong answer. They sorted all that stuff out about a month later, prompting a huge amount of national newspaper coverage in the process. In fact, the first picture of an updated Dalek appeared online in the last couple of days. SPOILERS for the terminally boring . . . . . . . . . . . . . So far it look like they'll be appearing in three episodes - one by Robert Sherman featuring a lone Dalek, and the two-part conclusion to the season by Russell T Davies.

Oh bugger! And there I was thinking they'd gone for good...
Don't get me wrong - they were all good in the black and white days when I wasa nipper - but they've had their day now, I think.
Personally I'd glad to see the back of 'em now...

I disagree - the Daleks, although not as good as the Cybermen, were great villains and even at the end of the series - Remembrance - they were still providing great dramatic storylines to explore. The update looks good and I think the rogue Dalek episode will be Doctor Who meets Alien so I'm really looking forward to it. The Dalek is, like it or not, the most iconic image of the series and to have left it out would have been a disaster. We should see it as encouraging that the new series, which is shaping up to be something rather special, still embraces the past as well as the future - just like the lead character in fact.

I reckon that the daleks are the best villaims on Dr Who. But everyone will have their own favourites. I reckon the BBC should re-make the Dalek Masterplan as the new Dr Who film. As there was talk of a new Dr Who film before the new series kicked off.

Apparently the new Doctor Who series is being given the awful "pseudo 25 fps" filmic look that so blighted the new Vicar of Dibley episodes (though of course that wasn't the only thing to blight them but that's another story). It seems ironic that recovered Who episodes on film are being VidFired to help restore them, yet the new episodes will be deliberately made less distinct. As 10cc once said "Art for art's sake".

I'm not sure what to think yet. do you think it would be best to lower our expectations as much as possible in order to avoid any dissapointment?
