I have a very rough open reel copy of part of a show containing the beatles. The Box is labeled the beatles story, it appears to be an interview interspersed with music. I may have the whole thing, but my player doesn't do 1 & 7/8ips and I can't be bothered to slow it all down on my computor. I would be delighted if it was one of the lost shows, I'm keen to find out. Am I wasting my time collecting domestic open reel tapes?
cheers

No, you're not wasting your time collecting open reel tapes. I know people who've found various lost episodes of things on mouldy old reels they've bought from junk shops and car boot sales.

no way is it a lost show. BBC Transcription Service had copies of their own masters tapes, and I'm pretty sure Radio 1 would have kept theirs too. TX'd in about 1973 I think??

it isn't a waste of time, if we didn't grab them they'd only get thrown away or reused, keep collecting, you will find something sooner or later.
