I have come across some recordings of classical music from the 60s and 70s and wondered if it is worth giving them back to the Beeb. I have the opera Rigaletto broadcast in Feb. 1964 on Radio 3 as well as the Proms 1974 and 1979 plus other classical pieces. Has anyone got any advice?

I wouldn't bothered. Auntie Beeb simply isn't interested.
I offered them some tapes a couple of years back and met a wall of apathy.
A better idea would be transfer the tapes to cd. You could then copy them and give to friends. An unusual gift.
I know a contact who can do this copying. Leace a message here if you want more info.

Anthony, it does depend on what the recordings are of. I certianly know that Treasure Hunt did take a number of classical recordings as they hadn't any examples of particular works, so you might be lucky. I myself haven't had much luck offering them shows, but I do know that it is very dependent on the material (they don't seem interested in lost comedy or drama!). If you don't have any luck (or even if you do, as it is unlikely to get broadcast again) drop me a line through my site and I would be happy to arrange safety copies. www.britishcomedy.org.ukStearn (mislaid my login details!)
