With the recent return of four Goons episodes I'm wondering if it would be possible to have a missing radio list to complement the TV one on this site. It would obviously be a great aid and reference to episode hunters.

4 goons returned? when? and which ones?
I think you may be confusing the previous threads about trying to return (unsuccessfully so far) four 4th series shows

Sorry, matter of semantics! I meant 'returned' as in located. But my point of establishing a missing radio list still stands and I'd like to know what people think about this...

Sorry, matter of semantics! I meant 'returned' as in located. But my point of establishing a missing radio list still stands and I'd like to know what people think about this... Of course, we'd all love to see a comprehensive list of mising radio, but it simply isn't possible to draw one up. The best you could do was list episodes of popular series, eg Hancock, which have a fandom who know what exists and what doesn't. But that would account for a lot under 1% of everything. The Kaleidoscope group have done a good job compiling archive guides for television, but it's taken them many many years, there are still sizable gaps, and they've had to earn themselves the trust and cooperation of the industry. It is a very difficult process. Also, whereas there's been relatively little TV material held in private hands from the pre-vhs era, radio recording has been going on for decades. And how do you know what each collector has in his collection? The one bonus of radio over TV archiving, is that in the UK at least, the BBC is the only broadcaster of importance. Also remember that the British Library has been recording programmes for a long time and has copies of some from the BBC archive, which can be located via the National Sound Archive catalogue, which is available from their webiste.

Sorry, can't find my log in details and my security software has decided to lose all my membership cookies in a fit of pique - should be stearn! I have endeavoured to list as many shows as I can with constant updates to offer this service. I do have access to the BBC archive listings (although these are fairly shoddy at times) and have various contacts both in the industry and in the private collectors circles. Of cources, I can't claim to get anywhere near a comprehensive listing, but it is a start and if anyone wishes to contribute, they are more than welcome. www.britishcomedy.org.ukwww.britishdrama.org.uk

Are they the right addresses? I can't find any radio archive listings there.
