Catching the "Stars Re-united" thingy on BBC1 this morning (Friday 11 July) which featured 'Tomorrows World' prompted me to ask what remains in the archives from the sixties and seventies? I guess the sixties fares the worst? Anyone know? I bet the first edition doesn't exist - seeing as it went out live, I wonder how many early editions were in fact retained...
Any info appreciated
Cheers
Paul

From 1980 seems to be complete.
Does anyone know the start TX date, and if it ran 52 weeks a year in its 60s/70s heyday?
Didn't know it went out live though.
Regards

I recall a retrospective show some years ago now that used some '60s material, seemingly from more editions than survive according to this list. Definitely something from around 1966 at least. Maybe they were just surviving chunks though?
Is the 5/68 edition the one with the feature on the first heart transplants? This was one of the clips I saw in the retrospective.

The tape of the 29.11.73 edition was experimentally recorded on film using a process which was eventually scrapped (at least by the BBC). The colour information was recorded on b/w film and reconstituted later.

There is a Clip from 1967 as well as it was used on several differnt Pink Floyd docs, as they show Pink FLoyd playing music to Michael Lenords light projections, its also one of the few bits of footage with Syd Barrett in.

I recall the start of the first edition being shown as part of the 1,000th episode celebrations, and a clip from 1966 showing experimental "colour" (in black-and-white of course) from a clip show presented by Michael Palin on C4 in 1990 ("1,001 Nights")?

OXO tried out the subjective colour in adverts, but it didn't work very well. I can see the colour but not everyone can.

An incomplete edition black and white edition with a feature on the Radiophonic workshop is available in the viewing rooms at the Film & TV museum in Bradford. It is listed in the catalogue as being from 1965.

It is listed in the catalogue as being from 1965. I believe ( but could be wrong! ) that this edition was the original source of a clip from the otherwise missing 1964 production 'The Caves of Steel' ; to muddy the waters a little, a longer ( albeit part mute ) version of this clip also exists on what I'm told is a 'cutting copy' of the Radiophonic Workshop feature ( whatever that means! ) Colin
