Today I went to a record fair in Brighton where one stall had copies of the 64/65 NME concerts on DVD. It seemed to be the whole concert. I didn't purchase a copy this time. Has anyone else seen this DVD about? Has the bootlegger used a good source?

Re the 66 poll winners concert, I've read somewhere that there were two parts and one still exists but the other is unfortunately missing.

The '65 and '66 shows are on VT. The '64 show is a t/r. I believe that only one '65 and '66 show (out of two each year) survive. Can anyone confirm? Never heard about the Small Faces performance being wiped though - do you mean that part of the '66 show being specifically missing when it didn't used to? Anyone got a full rundown?
Anyone know also if the years after '66 were either transmitted on TV or filmed / taped in any way? I was recently reading the NME reprint magazine on the '60s which gives rundowns on all the years. Interesting line-ups. Anyone know what year these concerts ended?

The 1964 was video taped. For whatever reason when the 1964 show started circulating it was a film print. I have two of the Beatles songs (she loves you and twist and shout) video source.
From what I hear the first half of the 1966 show has been "missing" from the BBC archive for a number of years.
I don't think any of the shows after 1966 were taped. I have never seen any clips of any of the acts.

NME's '64 and '65 exist in their entirity. In addition, the raw footage of the '65 show exist in the National Film Archive. Part 2 of the '66 show remains there too, sadly the first part with the Who and Small Faces was not preserved. Sadder too, was that due to a union disagreement at the time, both the Stones and the Beatles' performances were not filmed, although their acceptance award bits do still exist. I dare say the industrial shenanighans of the '66 show put the lid on any further editions being filmed.

It's a pity that the Who & Small Faces set didn't survive. Does anyone, who was around at the time (unlike me!) know if these were broadcast on TV.
